Yesterday, at WORK of all places, one of the teenagers started yelling for me, saying there was a kitten in the drive way at the end of the drive thru. I look out the window and, sure as shit, there’s this tiny ball of fur, smack in the middle of the drive way, looking scared to death. I went rushing out the door, went “awwwww, baby come here!” and this little girl ran right up to me. Naturally, I couldn’t just leave her. She’s about 5 weeks old, tiny as can be, and it’s getting cold out. Plus, we’re at a busy ass intersection.
So, guys, meet Hekate or “Hex” for short.
“Maybe,” she teased. “But I think ya got some solid competition in the family. Ma’s got some good genes and I got some really pretty siblings.”
He feigned offense and gestured at his body. “Do you need to touch the abs? Like, is that a thing that needs to be done? Let’s be real here, I’m 110%, drop dead gorgeous, thank you very much.”
“……I mean… no, I don’t really want anyone to get eaten, but also like, they’re the dumbasses poking around bears so if they do get eaten, it’s kind of their own fault.”
“But then the bear gets killed and the bear doesn’t deserve that.” It was never humans that worried her, it was animals. It was definitely why she had been working at Britt’s clinic since the day she turned sixteen.
