“Do you ever even try to play nice or is mean just your default? Because I gotta say, you look pretty young to be that jaded.”
She snorted at that, completely at ease. “Older than I look. My baby sister has grandkids old enough to have their own kids.”
Put a few more drafts in queue, ate, and now I’m gonna read until my sleeping pills kick in because I have to be awake in like 7 hours for work. Kill me now.

“You’re nicer when you’re sober and I’m sure it’s better for your brain.” He really didn’t mind Mac when he wasn’t sober. The niceness was still… weird, but he could get used to it if he tried.
“My brain is fine, thank you very fucking much,” he countered, eyes rolling as he sprawled across the couch. “So where the actual fuck have you been?”
Getting something to eat and then gonna work on drafts and get some drabble work done.
Managed to get the rest of the spook squad moved into the bedroom with Dio and the gremlins, so there’s that at least.
“Perhaps it’s the pain killers obscuring my memory, but I think you seemed a bit flustered while I was in the hospital.” And he wanted to make that happen again if he could, though he knew it would certain prove challenging.
“I was irritated because your dumb werewolf ass almost died,” she countered, crossing her arms and giving him a hard look. If he wanted a challenge, she was more than happy to give him one.
Okay, so, my version of doing NaNoWriMo is to try to do a cubic fuck ton of drabbles in the span of the month. Just sort of a heads up that some of them are going to be weird as shit because my sister sends most of the prompts for it.
“Are you really willing to let magic influence your own opinions like that? It seems… unwise at best.” Of course, he influenced the opinions of others professionally, so who was he to talk?
Calla opened her mouth to speak before frowning down at the tendrils of magic wrapped around her calves. “They’re helping me with something,” she finally confessed, swatting a hand absently at the magic when it began to constrict. Of course, the words brought up a swell of emotion, pain clear in her eyes when she finally glanced back up at him. Learning that her birth mother had died so shortly after her birth had hurt.
