My family weren’t exactly enthusiastic about that either, so me showing up and saying I’m a vampire is probably going to make them try and have me committed to the psych ward, especially after I’ve already said I had to take time off for mental health stuff.”

“Yeah, but I make pretty convincing back up. I mean, I have wings and talons and can literally vanish into shadows. Not like those are easy things to write off as parlor tricks or whatever,” he pointed out, not entirely liking the idea of her losing everything. “Or we can find glamour spells. Charms that make you look gradually older.”

“Most people aren’t involved in blood trafficking, mortal or otherwise.” Trent pointed out, unfazed that she’d laughed at him for being so young and inexperienced compared to her.

“And most mortals don’t even know that is a thing, except the ones who end up getting trafficked.”

“And your mother knew that about him long before she started dating him. What does that say about her? I mean, one of her longest standing friends is a serial killer witch.”

She gave a snort at that. “Mortals also sell their own kind in slavery and sex trafficking.”
