“And you were a lot less aggressive.” he shot back, pouting a little.

“Either that or you just got bigger, so it actually hurts when you try to beat me up now, and I don’t exactly enjoy walking around covered in bruises.”

“Well if you would just play then you wouldn’t be a walking bruise,” she countered, hating how whiny she was sounding. It sucked not really having anyone to spar with in her own age range. At least, not anyone she actually liked being around.

“I suppose it’s got something to do with the interruption of the natural order of things, you guys being able to do what you do in the first place. Universe has got it’s own way of keeping everything in check, same with us wolves. For all our strength and healing ability, right combination of plants and metals does away with all of that in a heartbeat.”

“Nah, don’t think it’s something like that. We can’t bring long term and we can’t put souls back in people or anything creepy like that. Zombies, when they’re newly dead, retain sort of like an echo? A memory of who they were, but it fades damn fast and then there’s the whole rotting,” he explained, shrugging a little. “And we’re damn mortal to start with.”

“She might have had a hand in it, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t have my own reasons too. She just tends to nudge things on a little quicker, but you already knew that though.”

“She doesn’t take no for answer unless it’s about sex, does she?” He sighed heavily, looking far older than he ever had. But it was more around his eyes and the way his shoulder slumped, his usual charm and charisma no where to be found.
