them if they could reach some sort of truce, although he was prepared to fight
her every second if he had to.

“Well I could just put a bullet between your eyes right now and call it a fucking day.” It wouldn’t be all that difficult as she was always armed, but she had a  feeling her mother would lecture her. Not about killing him, no, but about how hard it is to get blood out of the carpet.

“You know damn well how stubborn he is even on a normal day. I’m not surprised it took him some time to come around to saying it out loud, but I’m glad he did, and I’m glad it helped bring you back to me too.”

“Cam, it literally took him dying and being brought back by Britt Britt. That’s a little more than stubborn,” she pointed out, messing his hair up a little. “I’m sorry I scared you all so badly… I just… I never thought they would leave, you know? I didn’t know who I was or could be without them.”

“I’ll stick around as long as I’m welcome, okay?” he offered truthfully, although he couldn’t give a definite time span for that because he barely knew anyone and had a predisposition to not wanting to be in anyone’s way because that was always how his mother had treated him.

“Good. That means for like ever.” After all, he couldn’t be grouchier than Jasper and she was still painfully attached to him. “Because I can’t imagine no one wanting you around. Unless you’re like a serial killer or something. And even then, so long as you’re not attacking family, it’s cool.”
