“I guess? But even if there is, something tells me it’s not going to be that easy. I mean, why would she have gone to so much trouble covering everything up just to leave that loophole wide open? Chances are if there is such a spell, it’s locked up tight and needs a lot of energy to work it in the first place.”

“It’s not like we don’t know enough people that could help. I mean, I could probably get Robbie to if we found any such spell,” she pointed out. Sure, she knew her brother didn’t like her boyfriend, but she also knew Robbie would help if she asked.

“No point in putting things off, right? In my experience, the longer you wait, the worse shit gets, so no time like the present, I guess.” he shrugged, letting out a small, resigned sigh. “Ready whenever you are.”

She was quick to get out of the car, clearly happy to be back on familiar grounds. Del loved her duties, she enjoyed seeing the country, but nothing quite beat the feeling of being home. Plus, she wanted some real food and not the fast food she lived on away from the pack.

“Not sure Mom would be able to handle setting foot back in Grandma’s house, not after everything that happened to her. I think she does miss Grandma and Granddad though. She gets kinda sad when she talks about them, but I think part of that is because Dad gets angry at even the slightest mention of them.”

It was a hard thing to admit, but Kellen felt helpless in the whole situation with his parents. It hurt to see his mom with that look in her eyes, but she had even less strength to fight against Jeri than he did.

“Try going through Ava to set something up. If anyone get her a day pass for a park or something without your asshole of a father, it would be her, right?” He had never really seen his aunt not get what she wanted when it was something important. The woman was too damn stubborn for her own good.

“Your mother deserves the same chance to get out as you. I mean, I know she can’t live with Ava, but it’s not like there aren’t other family members to take her in. Such as my mother and father, if need be.”
