The shift in his eyes was a shock in itself, but Erys really didn’t have the luxury of being picky about who rescued her right now, so she’d roll with whatever the fuck was going on if it meant she got the hell out of there.

Following his lead, she kept low and moved quickly, sticking to his side like glue. If either of them got caught, they were dead, so getting out took a far higher priority than asking questions.

>It wasn’t so much the proximity that bothered him as it was the limitation to his own movements. He was looking for traps and scent markers, certain tell tale signs that they were going in the right or wrong direction and she was clouding his senses. One wrong step and they were both colossally fucked.

Logan paused after a bit, stance rigid like a deer in headlights before he was tugging her sharply to the left and down into a thicket of bushes. His hand slid over her mouth quickly, stifling any sounds that may escape on the chance he had accidentally hurt her.

“You’re plenty trouble,” he answered. She was definitely too attached and that was a problem in itself, but it wasn’t one he wanted to deal with tonight. “But nothing I can’t handle.”

She smirked at that. “Pretty sure you handled me just well last time we ended up drunk together.”

pettythieveswithpotential‌:

“That doesn’t matter. She doesn’t matter and you need to fucking trust me when I saw that. If I were going anywhere, I’d be long gone by now. I’d have left when you shot me. So you need to chill the fuck out and remember that I love you.” Gods, she was so stubborn. “Isn’t that the whole point of the Lethe? That you don’t really get a say in that shit?”

“I barely fucking shot you! If you want me to really shoot you, I fucking will!” In her mind, a blank hardly counted as actually shooting him. “You really think anyone there is going to argue with me? Really? You’re the only fucking person idiotic enough to do that shit.” And she loved him for that alone.

pettythieveswithpotential‌:

“Oh for fuck’s sake, Val. You need to fucking trust me. I’m not going to fucking cheat on you. I don’t care how anyone else looks at me, so neither should you.” If he wanted to be with someone else, he would have left ages ago. He never would have stuck it out through all of her bullshit. “What makes you think we’d be together in the afterlife?”

“I don’t trust her,” she snarled, having no problem getting in Kit’s face while she spoke. Val had no idea why he stayed and she didn’t trust that someone else couldn’t just lure him away. It wouldn’t end well for anyone if he left, they probably both knew it, but she didn’t give a shit. “You really think I’d let anyone in my family split us up there? Really? Are you fucking stupid?”

pettythieveswithpotential‌:

“It isn’t about being possessive,” he snapped. He couldn’t deny that he was, but it wasn’t the point of this adventure. “You did a good thing today and you didn’t deserve to get punched for it. I needed to vent some frustrations and that jackass was a pretty good target without me having to shoot anyone.”

He was almost tempted to point out that Chase had once shot him while he was injured, but he knew how that conversation would go. “You’re insane.”

“Well, we already know my taste is pretty questionable, but I’d hardly call you a bad choice,” he answered. “Can’t say I’ve ever been all that fond’a it either, but I guess we just gotta deal with it.” He nodded. “I mean, we lied to him his whole life. Even if he won’t say anythin’ about it, he ain’t happy with it. But he turned out better than I could’a hoped, so I can’t say I regret anythin’ about it.”

“I’m the best choice most people make,” she replied, not caring just how cocky it sounded. They both knew she had a deep sense of self confidence overall, even if Tassos had shaken her down to her core. “Elise and Jake did good with him. It’s why Tru wanted him to be raised by her parents.”

She didn’t seem to be able to move. He noted the way she’d seemed to try retreating and yet she was stuck in place. It was hardly surprising. A conduit for magic like that wasn’t something the ley lines were going to give up easily, he was sure.

His nose scrunched a bit at the question. “My vain heart hates to admit it, but age is how. I am… much older than I look. You pick up a thing or two when you’ve been around… millennia.”

His confession of age had her frowning, trying to figure out his angle. She wanted to call him a liar, but something was telling her he wasn’t. It was not a calming thought.

“…What are you?”

babyitsmagic‌:

“Doubt you could do anymore damage than anyone else has done,” he returned. “Keyword being yet. You stick around and trouble will come, whether I invite it or not.”

“What makes you think I’m not trouble?” She was, in a sense, but not in any way she felt he needed to know at the moment.
