“Well then maybe I’m in better company than I thought I was,” he answered with a laugh. If they were being honest, he was probably a low point in her life. That last time was probably just a step above rock bottom for her. He held up his hands in a gesture of surrender. “Whoa, whoa. I ain’t tryin’ ta get outta anythin’. I wouldn’t want a trickster runnin’ ‘round without knowin’ how to use they’re powers anymore than you do. But I’m not askin’ ‘bout the kid right now, Lyri. I’m askin’ about you. Ya sure ya don’t need me? ‘cause I know ya got a better support system than Tru did, but I just wanna be sure.”
Her eyes rolled and, for a moment, she was terribly tempted to punch him. Not that she thought it would do a whole lot of good considering how he was. “You should still be around. I don’t know what to expect with this pregnancy and neither are the others. My genetic make up isn’t the same as Tru’s and that could make this complicated.” Or at the very least, make the kid a little more power charged than Lin was.
