“No, metal distorts. Metal has to be specifically placed to be used.” It was definitely one of the perks of her family line, she supposed, a lot of old world magic that depended on the person and not a conduit. “Just general studying, I suppose. Herbs and other plants.”
“Eulalia is an idiot. …think I can get her to fuck off on my own?” She guessed it would depend on how committed the other woman was at this point. After all, her mother had yet to effectively push away her dad.
“Not arguing that, but she’s also psychic. So, she’ll know what you’re doing before you even set anything in motion,” he pointed out, a smirk tugging on his lips. “Maybe she’s what you need. Someone that’s actually willing to put up with you.”
“I broke my wand like three months ago, so I’ve just been using one of those hairsticks instead and honestly, I think I’ve had better luck with that. I think there’s a lot of unnecessary pretension in magic and people make shit way harder than it needs to be.”
“I think it’s because wands are only supposed to act as a focus and people put too much stuff in them. It distracts the flow of the magic,” she answered almost absently, barely glancing up from her books.
