It wasn’t really what Lex meant, but he didn’t have the energy or heart right now to explain himself better, not that he really knew how to put into words just how much it terrified him to put his trust in anyone anymore after what had happened with his own family.
“I guess one night can’t hurt?” he conceded easily, knowing damn well that if he went home and spent the night alone, he’d fall apart, and he didn’t want that right now.
“You wanna stay in here with me or use one of the guest rooms?” Normally he would have called it a spare room, but he wanted Lex to feel welcome there. Although, honestly, he was sort of hoping he chose to stay with him for the night. Something in Devereux didn’t want to let him out of his sight for longer than he needed to.
“Feel up to eating yet?”
