Lex didn’t protest or ask to be taken home instead. He was distinctly shellshocked by the ordeal, his breath hitching in a pattern like he was crying, but there weren’t any tears yet, a sign that he was holding in how he was feeling until he was somewhere he felt safe enough to break down.
Other than his torn clothes and the bruising to his cheek, being forced to the ground and the resulting struggle against the weight on top of him had left Lex covered in streaks of dirt and blood from cuts and grazes to his hands, arms and legs as he’d trying to fight for some leverage and claw his way free.
Once the car door was closed, he was curling up on himself in the passenger seat, wrapping his arms around his knees and putting his head down, seeming to make himself as small as physically possible.
He drove as fast as he could without risking an accident. This car didn’t have the same safety codes built into it that newer ones did, so it would be a lot more damaging to get into a wreck in it. Especially with the lack of seatbelt being worn by Lex.
When they pulled up to the house, he turned the car off but didn’t get out quite yet. Instead, he text his dads to make sure Cammie was in her room and that the pathway to his room was clear, figuring Lex wouldn’t want anyone else to see him like this.
“Need help getting out of the car?”
