“What? You dropping dead from lack of sleep paired with a caffeine overdose? They don’t seem like very nice coworkers.”

of your messes. I had to check,” he answered, no hint of apology in his voice.
“Still a cop, you know.” A Guardian, too, but still someone who worked to
uphold the human law.

“Car theft and kidnapping are not the same thing.” Had there not been children present, she might have worded it differently, swore more, but she was learning to curb her mouth.

“You’re not wrong there.” Dante let out a warm chuckle and conceded that point with a nod.

The hybrid was a great hulk of a guy, perhaps even on the larger side by wolf standards, with the way he easily stood a little over seven feet tall of solid muscle, cutting an imposing figure that had a tendency to intimidate most on sight, despite his gentler nature beneath.

“Of course I’m not. I look nearly like a child still standing beside you.”

Not that mattered much. At 5′1″, Bex was hardly what one could call tall. Her lithe frame didn’t really help much with that. It was still a miracle she had survived her childhood trauma, let alone well enough to have a daughter with children of her own.
