“I know.” Cam murmured softly, nuzzling into her touch.

“I’m still angry at them for it, especially Tass. I don’t know if I can ever bring myself to forgive him for walking out on us, and especially on you.” he confessed, frowning a little at the pain the thought of it still brought up in him.

She gave a small, sad smile, her eyes still showing the depths of her hurt as she cupped his face in her hands. “Without you and Kat, I might have started to turn into my momma. I mean, I sort of get her a little better now, which might be the only good from this. She was there for me in a way she hadn’t been since I was little.”

It was obvious she was trying to find a silver lining in all of it, a reason, but that wasn’t enough to make it hurt less.

“You don’t have to forgive anyone for leaving.”
