“Sara.” She shook the offered hand, shifting the weight on her feet, dropping eye contact for a second.
“Well apparently youth hostel chic and bus station finery are working for me. So I think I can pull in anything might be more accurate.” Sara laughed, the tips of her ears tinting red.
Her smiled faded a little around the edges when Sara looked away. She hadn’t been trying to make anyone uncomfortable, she just never could seem to not flirt
“I get most of my clothes from thrift shops and I think people look better naked, so I’m not the best judge on that, I guess?” she returned, the words out before she could even think to reconsider them.
“Sorry,” she winced, “you’re really pretty and I have no filter.”
reblog this and i’ll ask you the first question that comes to mind when i go to your blog 😀
still doing this, and have done it for everyone so far!
it’s November 2017, I originally made this in May 2013. I sent over 15,000 asks with this post. Many blogs were deactivated, didn’t have asks enabled, didn’t understand an ask limit exists, were confused when I finally got to them months later, or would reply upset at me.
REGARDLESS, I have decided to continue on with this. I don’t know if it’s a good decision but… I’ll give it a shot. So go for it. I’ll send some more asks.
It had come out of nowhere. He had been fine at first and then he couldn’t breathe. One of his friends had an inhaler, his asthma all but gone now, so he told Pete to just keep it until he could go see a doctor. If it helped, he had more medication, his prescription still valid, if not, there was always the hospital.
Pete hadn’t thought anything of it, the inhaler helped. It wasn’t a complete fix, but it was enough to get him through the day to day. It wasn’t until he began coughing up pus did he realize there might be an issue.
Even still, he tried to hide it. It was towards the end of the school year and he didn’t want to fail or miss too many classes. He managed to hide it for nearly a week before he passed out during gym and woke up in the hospital.
The tubes in his chest hurt, the light was too bright, and the pain killers only took the barest edge off of the ache. He was in and out of consciousness, but he could hear his mom crying.
The doctors were doing everything they could, but there weren’t enough organ donors to cover the list and it didn’t matter that his state bumped him towards the top.
He needed a miracle and Pete just wasn’t the praying type.
The days dragged on, friends from school brought him music to listen to, get well soon cards, and the whole merriment of balloons and flowers to make the dreary room seem a little brighter. But none of it really helped. He was getting worse, he knew it and so did his family.
The visitations became more limited, his body unable to stay awake for long periods and machines handled a good portion of his breathing.
It wasn’t until he was alone did Pete finally decide it was enough. With what little strength he could muster, he wrote out a single word on a piece of paper and pressed the button to call the nurse.
She had taken pity on him, a pretty blonde kind eyes. He had slid the paper to her and she nodded, understanding what he wanted and quietly shut off his machines. She stayed with him until his breathing stopped and nodded at his spirit when it was released.
He hadn’t expected her to be able to see him.
When his mother and father showed up, the nurse handed them the paper, the word donate scrawled in shaky letters.
Her dads were getting worried. It wasn’t like her to get sick, but Aislynn hadn’t been able to hold anything down for over a week. When it hit day nine, August had packed her a bag and dragged her across the country to see Cord. There was no one else the snow leopard trusted with her and it was a little annoying.
Cord had done the usual blood opted to speak to her in private. If she didn’t want her dads to know, she wasn’t going to tell them. It was Aislynn’s life and confidentiality was something the demon took seriously.
“Well, the blood work shows your pregnant,” she started, sitting down in the chair closest to the exam table. “You’ve got options, I didn’t tell your dad, so it’s all up to you.”
Aislynn nodded, wrapping her arms around herself and wishing Teddy had been able to come with her. She had no idea how she was going to tell Teddy about it, but he needed to know. It was his baby too and it wouldn’t feel right to her to make a choice without his input. Sure, she understood that it was her body, but she loved him and didn’t want to hurt him.
Besides, she wasn’t sure she could take any option that didn’t include her being in the baby’s life.
“Are you and the father together?” Cord asked gently. It wouldn’t be too hard for her to call the father if Aislynn wanted, despite not knowing who he was.
Another nod. “His name’s Teddy…” she mumbled, a faint smile ghosting her lips for a moment. “My dads are going to freak out.”
Cord patted her on the knee, trying to be reassuring. “Can’t be that bad, can it?”
“One’s trigger happy.”
The demon winced. She had forgotten that August had the weirdest taste in any shifter she had ever met. “Do you really think your other dad’s going to shoot him?”
“Have you met him?”
“Fair point. If you want, you can stay here for a bit, I can talk to your dads, any way you wanna go with this,” she offered, wanting to take as much stress off of Aislynn as possible.
The lynx shook her head. “I should be the one to tell them. I mean, if I can’t be adult enough to do that, how can I be adult enough to take care of a baby?”
“You just make sure to take it easy. You don’t need any stress adding to things, okay?”
She nodded and smiled again, trying to put on a brave face before facing the proverbial music.
“I’m a Seraph, not a Jedi.” he teased, laughing lazily.
If she wanted him to fetch it for her, she’d need to let him get up, but he suspected she’d protest about that after she’d gotten comfortable.
“Be a Jedi instead. Way cooler,” she protested, rolling onto her side so she could actually look at him.
After a moment, a lurid grin took over her features and she shifted about again to blow a raspberry on his stomach before laughing at the sound it made. She didn’t care that it was childish, she was having fun.
