“Working too much can lead to an early grave or a long list of regrets when you’re older.” At least, that’s what her mother liked to tell her grandma all the time. She wasn’t sure gran believed in that though.
“Because your father wouldn’t
make a particularly capable assistant, now would he?” He wanted his payment in

“Then take it in blood from him for all I care,” she shot back, still cradling her arm close to her chest. If her options were to lose her father physically or be stuck here with this manic, she would rather Ajax be put out of his misery.
