“I have the ones I need.” She looked human and that was all she really cared about.
She shrugged and let the topic drop. “Where going?” Most didn’t stay in this area long unless they were family or friends of the family. Or so it seemed.
She shrugged. “I was never good at it and wasn’t all that interested in it either.” It might have been useful to learn, but she tried to avoid regretting too many of her decisions. “Not everyone has a knack for it.”
“Ask for charms?” She knew some of her cousins had to wear them to play mortal, it didn’t seem like they were all that hard to come by to her.
She nodded, choosing not to ask what the other half was. If the woman wanted to share, she would have. “It seems excessive to find magic to make me look older.”
Talyse shook her head. That wasn’t what she meant in terms of magic. “Why no you magic?”
“As in werewolf?” It would explain her keen sense of smell. She shrugged. “Perhaps, but I have no magic of my own and I already use magical objects to make me look more human.”
“Half.” That was the easier part to explain. She had never quite gotten the grasp of putting her father’s genetics into words. “Why no other magic?”
“And what might you be then?” she wondered, relaxing her grip on the cane as her brain finally acknowledge that the woman wasn’t currently a threat. “It was time to move again. People eventually start to notice when you don’t age like they do.”
“Mutt.” It was a term she had heard from Tru and she had liked the way it sounded. It sounded nice when she said it to other mixes. “Magic make look older.” Her aunts and uncles had shown her that much.
“…usually,” she settled on, after a long moment of consideration. The elves she’d met here had traveled between a fae realm and this one, but it hadn’t been her fae realm. “I think that most are from the same world.”
“Know some. Most mixed.” Most of the family she knew was hybrid in some manner or another, but so was she. It was a non issue to her. “Why here?”
