@pettythieveswithpotential I’m not even sorry
She had been the one to find him, Willow struggling against her hold when they walked through the door. The little girl had wanted to show him the pretty rocks she had found, even if Val had rolled her eyes over it.
It hadn’t taken her more than a second to realize what she was seeing, but their toddler didn’t understand. Instead of reacting like a normal person would have, Valencia had simply called one of the guards and had him take Wil with instructions to call Avalon to retrieve the child. She could handle the rest.
When Ava had gotten there, the paramedics had already taken his body and photographed everything. The pill bottles were gone, but she was still staring at where they had been. Leave it to him to fucking leave her with a second kid on the way.
“Is there anything you need?” her mother had asked, voice soft and comforting.
At first, Val had only shook her head before she remember her little sister’s gift. “Brittia. I want to speak to Brittia. Bring her.”
It wasn’t a request. Avalon could guess what she wanted but she knew Val well enough to know that she would need to hear from Britt why he couldn’t be brought back.
Without another word, Ava did as asked, walking out of the room once her girls were together. If anyone could make Val see sense, it had to be her little sister.
“Val?”
Hazel eyes turned to her, the first brief glimpse of the pain she was in quickly hidden. “Bring him back.”
The blonde sighed and shook her head, expression sympathetic and sad. “I can’t.”
“Yes you fucking can. I know you can raise the fucking dead, Brittia. Bring. Him. Back.”
“It’s not that easy, Val. Not everyone can be brought back,” she explained, holding a hand up to keep her from interrupting. “He’s marked for reincarnation. I can’t interfere with that. The Fates would never allow that.”
“I don’t give a FUCK what they allow. BRING HIM BACK!” she screamed, lunging at her sister, all lean muscle and rage. “I WANT HIM BACK!”
Britt let her take her swings, not bothering to block them as she tried to get her arms around her older sister. “Val, I’m sorry,” she mumbled, pulling the slightly smaller woman close once she got a good grasp on her. “I’m so fucking sorry.”
But Val was past words, her rage subsiding to grief as she screamed against her sister’s shoulder, far too gone to even realize the beginning of labor.
