Can we just take a moment to appreciate Ava’s gods awful taste in dating and shit????

Let’s see there was 

  • Konis-Her very mentally unstable sister that has a habit of destroying everything good in her life.
  • Oliver-A complete psychopath that used to break into her apartment and watch her sleep
  • Alexander-A serial killer turned mob boss (and Valencia’s father)
  • Eden-A nice human veterinarian that had no business being with a woman that got arrested regularly for being at too many murder scenes.
  • Alexi-In pretty much any fucking verse. Main verse she considers him her friend (and then there are the side verses like kiss with a fist where they’re engaged or something inside where Rayner came from)
  • Teyo- (repetitions of past regrets verse) a crime lord werewolf
  • Warren- (absolute main verse, fiance) who, despite running a massive blood trafficking organization, is probably the best person Ava’s ever been with. 

Ava has the worst fucking taste. 6/7 people have a history of murder. That’s like….85% of her main ships. (and this isn’t including the smaller ships that didn’t have nearly as much impact on her timelines like Dolos or Apollo or the ones that were closed out entirely such as Adam and William)

“I’m not asking you to make any.” the other answered, finally getting up to give him some space.

“Just letting you know the door is always open if or when you need it, and that you’ll always be welcome, no matter how long it takes.”

Thras was silent again, the first tears finally falling, hot on his cheeks. He hadn’t felt warm since he lost them. 

“You don’t…you don’t have to go…” he finally mumbled, trying to swallow back his emotions once more. His mother had always been better at that.

“I get that. I really do, and I sympathise, but you gotta look at the practicalities. How many more times do you have to chase her down like this? You gonna keep going until your own legs give out from under you? Or until she takes a bite outta you instead? I know you love her, but how much of ‘her’ is still in there, and can it love you back? I’m not saying stop caring about her, I’m just saying maybe you need to consider the quality of life both of you have and whether it’s worth more than the alternative.”

“I want to fix her, not exterminate her. The only way to get rid of a ghoul is fire,” he replied, clearly upset with the mere idea of setting what was left of his sister on fire until she was ash. “She’s not going to bite me. Raw meat just…ghouls are ravenous. They always feel like they’re starving and she still hasn’t tried to eat my face. There has to be something left of her in there.” He had been clinging to that, that last little spark, and trying everything he could find a solution, some way to actually get her back.

Mason still felt like he was missing something obvious, but trying to figure out what was giving him a headache when he didn’t have the first clue to go on.

He didn’t move for a long moment, a puzzled look etched on his face before it finally got too much for him and he decided it might be just easier to apologise for whatever he’d apparently done in the meantime until he could figure out what it was.

“Sorry. I don’t know what it is that I’ve done or not done or whatever it is that I’m doing wrong, but I’m sorry I’m pissing you off.”

“I’m not pissed,” she answered, pouting and refusing to sit up or anything. Frustrated, upset, full of self doubt, sure, but she wasn’t pissed. Especially not at him. 

“You don’t have to put up with me if you don’t want,” she finally mumbled before biting down hard on her lower lip. She hated feeling so emotional and she had no idea what to do with feelings. 

It made her feel weak.
