Saffy knew he meant well, but continuing to talk about it was just making her feel worse.

“I’ll figure something out.” she mumbled, picking at her fingernails before trying to change the subject a little.

“Y’know, it’s funny. I spent the last couple of years making videos about urban legends and the supernatural and stuff, and now that I’m literally living proof of its existence, I can’t even tell anyone about it unless they’re already part of that world.”

He knew when to let the topic drop and he shrugged. All he could do was be there for her and try to help where he could when he could.

“Well, yeah, because plenty of people out there would just…well…” he trailed off and scratched at the back of his head, offering a sheepish grin. Sure, he was bullet proof, but vampires could still be killed.

“There are always some people worth taking the risks for though. I mean, Ava’s been with mortals that knew what she was before her and Warren hooked up.”

The way he looked at her cut deep and Willow actually took a couple of steps away from him. This hadn’t been how she wanted to spend any part of her day.

“I didn’t know he was connected to you! Jesus fuck, I was just bored and he was an easy fucking mark at the bar,” she shot back, the anger cracking from just how harsh his words were. She clenched her hands into fists, lower lip trembling slightly as she tried to stand her ground. But, despite herself, the absolute devastation of it all shown in her too blue eyes.

His nose scrunched slightly, disliking everything she’d said. Who considered people marks? And Robin shouldn’t have even been in a bar, but that was a whole other issue. “You should find a better source of entertainment. You seem like a smart girl who could be doing better things.” And she did. Resourceful maybe more so than book smart, but the point stood.

His words made her snort, a flash of sarcasm briefly obscuring her pain. “Not like you fucking care, so skip the lecture.” Not even her mother tried lines like that. Of course, she had her mom’s temper, so it didn’t really help much.
