deathandsleep:

Hypnos had wanted to argue further but his exhaustion wouldn’t let him, and if he was entirely honest with himself, it wasn’t the urgency that bothered him, but the apprehension of how the rest of his family would react after thinking he’d abandoned them all, but he trusted Cay’s word enough to believe that his son was correct in his assumption despite his own feelings.

It took him a moment, but Cayden stood and helped his father up, keeping an arm around him. He just looked so frail that Cay was honestly afraid he’d just fall over without someone to lean on.

“We kept your room the same…”

pettythieveswithpotential:

“Robin, go inside.” The seer wanted to argue, resented being ordered about like a child, but Kit’s voice was cold and Robin figured he should listen for once.

Kit closed his eyes, taking a moment to collect his thoughts before his icy gaze fell on the woman who claimed to be his daughter. “First, stay away from him. Second, you should stay away from me too. Because even if you’re right and I somehow used to be your dad, I’m not that guy anymore and I’m not just going to turn into him. This is hopeless and everyone is better off if we pretend we’ve never met.”

The way he looked at her cut deep and Willow actually took a couple of steps away from him. This hadn’t been how she wanted to spend any part of her day.

“I didn’t know he was connected to you! Jesus fuck, I was just bored and he was an easy fucking mark at the bar,” she shot back, the anger cracking from just how harsh his words were. She clenched her hands into fists, lower lip trembling slightly as she tried to stand her ground. But, despite herself, the absolute devastation of it all shown in her too blue eyes.

pettythieveswithpotential:

The voice had Kit’s gaze shifting before Robin could offer apology or explanation. His brows knitted in confusion as he saw the woman standing there. “Are you harassing my roommate now?”

Robin’s eyes flickered between the two, curious, but not entirely sure he wanted an explanation.

“How the fuck was I supposed to know he was your roommate? I picked a random prick in the bar to fuck with. Lucky me, the Fates think they’re fucking hilarious,” she growled, pulling her anger around herself tightly. She would be damned if he got to see how much the sight of him broke her heart.

pettythieveswithpotential:

“Well aren’t you just a joy?” he muttered, reaching for his keys as they neared the apartment. His hands shook slightly, an unfortunate side-effect of using his powers. Not that anything about them was fortunate. “You’re not coming inside,”he said, as they reached the complex and he headed for his door. It opened before he could unlock it and Kit’s gaze fell on him.

He tried not to wince under it, knowing what the other would say before the words left him. “You smell like alcohol.” This was distracting enough to keep Kit from even noticing Robin’s companion.

“Terribly so,” she replied, grinning brightly at him until the door opened. Her entire body tensed up, expression falling at those too familiar eyes. If the Fates had a sense of humor, it fucking sucked.

“Great…”

thewitchandtheangels:

“Maybe one day. Haven’t needed a familiar yet, but who knows. I might down the line.” She snorted a laugh. “Preacher, meet the choir.”

“Shifters make good one cuz they have a higher energy level and can understand ya when you tell ‘em not to fucking move.” At least that’s how he saw it. “Haha, funny.”

pettythieveswithpotential:

“So is the bitch routine how you scare them off once you’re done having fun?” he guessed, his stride unbroken as he made his way home to the shitty apartment, where he could get high in peace and his roommate could lecture him about it later.

“No. I just slip them something to knock them out and leave.” And by that she meant the butt of her gun against their skulls, but it was neither here nor there. She was so focused on him that she didn’t even realize where they were.

pettythieveswithpotential:

“Not. Interested.” For a multitude of reasons, starting with his inability to touch people and ending with being completely gay. “Do people usually make-out with you after you’ve been a bitch to them for your whole encounter?”

“If they’re sexually attracted to girls, usually yeah. Of course, most of them go for that before I get a chance to be a mega cunt, so…” She trailed off with a shrug, still content to irritate him as much as possible.

thewitchandtheangels:

“That right there’s on the long list of reasons I’ve never been much of a dog person. Not really a cat person either though. If I ever end up with a familiar, it’s going to be an owl or something.”

“Eh, get a shifter. I hear werecats and the like make pretty good ones if you find ‘em young enough.” He was only half joking. It wouldn’t be too hard for him to find one that young in need of a home.

thewitchandtheangels:

She laughed again. “Well, I dunno about everyone else, but I certainly like them better that way.” But she’d never been good with animals, even the demonic kind. “Fair point.”

He pointed at her mock seriousness. “Don’t let Marrow hear you say that. Dog might try humpin’ your leg.” It would hardly be the first time.
