“I just don’t know how to let go of the anger and hurt right now. Guess I take heartbreak a little harder than I probably should.”

“Momma says holding onto it won’t do any good,” she told him softly, knowing her mother was right about that. After all, Konis had held onto her hurt so long that it had warped her. “I mean, at least you still have Kat and me and the kids, right?”

“Fuck off,” he grumbled into the pillow, slightly annoyed at his own inability to think of something wittier to say. He passed out not long after the other left the room and when he woke up, he was relieved to find he felt more like a person and less like a corpse.

“I’m a little surprised you survived,” Lorcan muttered, glancing up from the book he was reading. Even more surprising was the fact that he was looking better. Truth be told, the wolf hadn’t slept at all, trying to make sure the other didn’t just stop breathing in his sleep.
