“Thirty five, going on ninety.” Charlie joked, catching himself smiling at her timidness and forgetting for a moment that her discomfort was probably a result of trying to reconcile what her boyfriend had told her.

“I’ll be twenty six in October.”

“Oh.. I’m barely even twenty,” she confessed softly. It wasn’t much of an age difference, especially not with the gaps in her dad’s family, but she knew most people got a little weirded out by such things. Most people wouldn’t want to feel like a babysitter or hang around someone that wasn’t even legally permitted to drink.
