It was like being deafened, a ringing then silence. Total silence, not even a bird or a breeze. He rubbed his hand hard against his ear, pressing for any sound. Quickly his breathing started to sound laboured.
“You can stop this now. I get it!” He snapped.
He pulled back and focused, drawing the energy away and letting the other resume his normal state of being.
“I am far older than you, child, and stronger. Do remember that there are things out there that can bring you to your knees with little effort.”
It was the first time Moros had ever actually sent her to Cord’s bar. She knew the demon was killing people, it had never been their style, but her brother didn’t like to tell her anything. Just a “you’ll know when you see him” sort of deal.
Of course, Moros wasn’t wrong. Murder tainted a person and the spirit following him was more than enough of a heads. So slid into the booth opposite of him and looked him over.
“Why? Don’t ya learn better when it fun? That singin’ cartoon ‘bout knowledge is power and it all says it should be fun.”
“That only works for schools because kids have short attention spans and none of that is going to matter much to them in the long run. I’m teaching you to adult, not how to use your adjectives.”
