“It’s okay, I guess,” he mumbled, mouth already full of jerky. Not that he meant to lack manners, but he was still learning on that front and he was making surprisingly good progress for the most part.

“They’re nice.”

“They really are. I mean, Angelo’s really good with helping people. Like, some of us couldn’t be in normal schools because of behavior issues so got licensed to teach for all of us. He helps Manson with her nightmares too.”

She dug out more of her gummies, picking around the purple ones and sticking mostly to the reds. “Wait til they start introducing you to the rest of the family. Talyse is going to love you. She’s basically an overgrown puppy. Follows Manson and Angelo’s daughter Lola around with the cutest little lovestruck look on her face.”

“Sorry, I’m not really good with small talk, you can tell me to shut up if I start to annoy you.”

Teddy growled pleasantly, catching her lip between his teeth and tugging softly as he gently nudged her thighs a little further apart with his leg before slowly easing into her, careful to watch for any sign of discomfort. The last thing he wanted to do was rush things and accidentally hurt her, though he’d gladly let her get a little rough with him if she got a little carried away.

The feel of his teeth was enough to make her putty in his hands and didn’t really matter where he was nipping. Her fingers carded through his curls before she gripped them just firmly enough to hold him still long enough enough to kiss him breathlessly. Her hips rose, greeting his own eagerly, a soft, sweet moan muffled by his lips as she lost herself in the moment.

The marriage comment didn’t go unnoticed, drawing a confused look from the male as he tried to figure out if she was talking about his dad or another guy his mom had married before he came along that she’d neglected to mention to her son.

“What can I say, we have particular tastes.” he shrugged before diverting the conversation back to the little tidbit preceeding that.

“When you say notorious, do you mean my dad or someone else? I know Dad’s killed people before, but he’s not exactly on the FBI’s most wanted list.”

She rolled her eyes before making herself comfortable, humming to herself as she smirked. She wasn’t going to answer his question right away, she wanted to let the suspense build first.

Slowly, Pheme finally turned her head to look at Trent, eyes sparkling with the knowledge that she knew things he didn’t.

“Sweetie, you’re dad’s Jack the Ripper.”

Isaac made another sort of huffed chuckling noise as he cuddled the pup close like the proud grandfather he was.

“Me too” he haphazardly scrawled on the paper in response to the warning about playing with Genesis’s hair and the effect it had on relaxing her to the point of sleep. He remembered that Anya used to do the same thing with him when he was much smaller to get him to stop fussing and settle too.

Cadi had to laugh a little at the words as she shook her head. It had the same effect on her, but she wasn’t good at saying things like that about herself. Anytime she had made mention of something she liked when she was younger, Marni had found a way to make her hate it and it was a behavior she was still trying to unlearn.

“Momma makes my hair pretty,” Genesis announced, breaking the small quiet moment as she tugged on one of her braids. “She fix your hair too. Keeps from getting stuck together.”
