“Because I don’t get it! Okay? I don’t see how I could be that important to you when I was an absolute piece of shit. You could have done better and you didn’t and I’m never going to be able to understand that. No matter how hard I try.”

“Because I fucking loved you, you goddamn brainless fucking dipshit! I didn’t get a fucking choice in marrying you in the first goddamn place, but by the time that stupid fucking day came, there was no one else I wanted to spend my fucking life with. Why the fuck would I have wanted someone that wouldn’t be able to put up with my shit? Why the fuck would I ever want anyone but someone that was just as much of a fucking disaster as myself? How the fuck can you still be so unbelievably fucking dense?!”

pettythieveswithpotential:

“Do you think she wouldn’t be safe with Maddy? I doubt that. If Maddy wasn’t safe, you wouldn’t be so calm. You’d either be stressing the hell out, or you’d be rushing off to go help her, now wouldn’t you? That baby would be better off there. Far away from us and the shit storm that’s going to hit us one of these days.”

He finally glanced up from the sleeping infant, pleading with his eyes. August seldom asked for anything outside of trying to make this shit show work, but he was willing to beg for this child. “I want to keep her, Chase. We both know I’m never going to have biological children…”

He was quiet for a long moment, the blade slowly digging into his throat uncomfortable at best and quickly getting painful. He knew his next statement would upset her further, but he also knew he needed to say it. "You can’t scare me away.” And he didn’t just mean with threats. Even her instability wasn’t a deterrent for him.

The blade dropped but it was only a momentary loss of threat before she was taking a swing at him, aiming for his jaw. If he wouldn’t stop saying shit like that on his own then she would fucking make him stop.

babyitsmagic:

“…you remind me of my sister. She is also stubborn,” he observed, before finally lying down to rest.

“Shh,” she scolded, settling the blankets around him and adjusting them so he wouldn’t be able to throw them off anytime soon. “Just rest. No talk.”

“I’m not naive. I know the world can be shitty.” She knew hunters existed and that her family needed to be careful. “I just have no interest in being one of the people who makes it shitty. Even slightly.”

“Being realistic doesn’t make things shitty, it just recognizes the shitty enough to try to avoid it all together.” She had the comment to her momma before and had earned a swat upside her head, but Genesis was sticking to it.

blackmagicblackheart:

“That seems shitty as hell. It’s a recipe for being alone for the rest of your lives and Devin deserves better than that at the very least.”

“You don’t know shit about Devin or me, so don’t try to pretend,” she growled, fingers balling into fists to keep her fingers human appearance. Partial shifting in a place even remotely public was a bad idea.

pettythieveswithpotential:

“The world could be nice if people tried, though. So why not be one of the people who’s trying?”

“You’re so naive it’s almost cute.” She had seen the worst of humanity as a child, was surrounded by the scars that left on people. She had no faith in a kind world when she was a literal product of its cruelty.

Grayson actually has two daughters older than Chayton that are still alive. Neither one of them come around the bar often, but he loves them dearly.

Vivian is the more reserved and quiet eldest:

And Jezebel is the loud, flirtatious middle child:
