All the while, Bailey had been mostly silent, watching the exchange and paying attention to every small physical and pheromonal cue. Not that that helped ease his anxiety any, and he had to stifle a small growl in response to the way Jeff spoke to Zeke.
To an outside observer, Bailey’s loyalties might seem misplaced, but Zeke had more or less saved his life and treated him better than anyone else ever had, so it was far easier to trust him over someone he didn’t know, despite his sisters insistence.
Cadi stared at Bailey, a pleading look in her eyes, practically begging him to trust Jeff even a little. Sure, Jeff usually reeked of blood and violence and the fear of others, but he had saved her from absolute hell.
“Your father was letting her handler sell video footage of her abuse from the time she was still a child. His too,” Jeff finally added, his voice a lot calmer, almost void of emotion as he nodded toward Bailey. “So I took her phone, but off her hand, and burned her alive. I have the names of everyone that touched either one of those kids and they will die for it. I’m getting the rest of those kids out, one way or another, kid.”
