“There didn’t use to be. The place has been renovated a couple of times to add extra rooms, but that was before I was even born. I mean, I could get my own place, I guess, but I kinda like living with other people, so I’d probably need at least one roommate if I did that. Plus Mom would be checking up on me all the time to make sure I’m taking care of myself properly anyway.”

“I’m a little surprised Ollie and Jeff haven’t just gotten a place together with the fact that Jeff keeps bringing home kids,” he remarked. Though, he couldn’t exactly say he’d like to be alone with Jeff at all personally. “And by that you mean making sure you haven’t accidentally set yourself on fire?”

babyitsmagic:

“Is there anything I could do to help with that?” She wasn’t sure she possessed the skills to find someone who’d been missing that long, but she was willing to try. Or at least willing to find someone who could help.

“At this point, I’m starting to think I’d have to sell my soul to find her,” she replied sadly, hanging her head a little as she tried to compose herself again.

babyitsmagic:

“I’m here if you do,” he mumbled, the words sincere despite everything that had transpired between them earlier.

Still no answer, but she did press herself closer to him, seeking something she had no words for, some comfort she had been long without. It wasn’t often she let anyone see her like this.

babyitsmagic:

“I suppose we’ll have to wait and see. It’s not like I can kill you.” A brief laugh escaped him at the thought, but it was his usual method for handling problems, so he wasn’t sure how he would handle this if it became one. “I think you’re determined not to allow me any fun today.”

“Guess so.” Her free hand adjust the blankets around him once more, continuously fussing. “You nearly died, Teyo. I do believe that that’s all the fun you’re going to need for a long while.”

babyitsmagic:

Even as she seemed to be calming down, he made no attempts to move, still stroking her hair and holding her close. “Do you need anything?” he asked eventually.

She didn’t answer as she just lied there, curled against his chest like a broken doll. There was nothing she could say.

babyitsmagic:

“Perhaps not,” he agreed. “But I don’t think I will regret saying it.” It wasn’t the kind of stuff he would say sober, but he had yet to make any remarks that would cause his future self any problems. “Something beautiful and also dangerous?”

“And if you do regret saying these things?” She wasn’t entirely sure she wanted him to regret the words, but it would make things less complicated. “Hardly on both counts.”

babyitsmagic:

He winced slightly at the scream, more from the unexpected noise than anything else. When she fell against him, he wrapped his arms around her and held her close, running one hand through her hair and murmuring assurances.

Eventually, the sobs gave way to small whimpers, but she didn’t say anything. She wasn’t okay, not by a long shot, but she was past the point of hitting him again for the time being.

babyitsmagic:

“I do not want to sleep when you are more beautiful than anything I could dream,” he said, still smiling at her. “Acacia,” he repeated, testing the name out on his tongue. “It… suits you, somehow.” He wasn’t sure how much of this he would remember after he finally did get some sleep, but he didn’t want to forget that.

“Oh you are so stoned. You won’t remember saying any of this later.” And she was going to delight in teasing him over it. “It’s a flowering, thorny plant that my mother named me for.”
