It was a valid reason for him to not want to address his own trauma yet. If he did so now, he wouldn’t be much use in helping find and recover any of the ones that still remained, and time was running short with how fast word would get around once the hunters realised that they were now the ones being systematically hunted down and what connected those who had already been killed.
