“From what I’ve been told, Thanatos has another son, from before Konis. He was born in the Underworld to a lampad by that name, and she didn’t exactly want him, so he was more or less raised by Hecate.” she explained, not quite sure how this all fit together as being a reason to free Chance unless it was some sort of petty-minded revenge of her own.

He nodded once, the woman’s desire for him to cause trouble for his grandfather making a little more sense. “It could very well be the same person. It would explain how and why she knew who I was.” And it had been one of the younger lampads she had left in his place. “I didn’t ask questions beyond wanting to know what sort of fucking game she was playing.”

mythsandmonsters:

“Oh.”

Her tone sounded like she was familiar with her, at least by name, and in truth, Ava had managed to keep her sem-updated with things behind Jeri’s back, including the arrival of another of Thanatos’s children that few knew anything about other than he was much older than any he had with Konis and that his mother was a lampad by that same name.

His eyes narrowed at her tone, his touch becoming less gentle once more. It was reflex more than anything.

“What do you know, Seraphine.”

mythsandmonsters:

“Who set you free? They told me that the only way that you could be released was if someone took your place, and I know that most of the family would never do that for you,” she asked, simply just wanting to know for no other reason than her own peace of mind.

“Some woman named Orphne. Seems she has a grudge against dear old Thanatos. I didn’t really ask beyond that.” He hadn’t cared enough. He had agreed to raise hell in exchange of his freedom, but the woman had never asked for it in blood, so he knew he could simply do as he please. It didn’t matter if Sera knew or not anymore because she couldn’t go about telling anyone what he confided in her.

mythsandmonsters:

A faint, almost-grateful smile touched her lips, enough for him to see it before she brushed her lips against his, once again mimicking his body language from earlier.

“I knew you’d come for me. I’ve been waiting all this time.”

He caught the look. It was one he hadn’t seen since they were much younger, before she began testing out her abilities on him. One he hadn’t seen since before he abandoned the image of a “good” brother willing to knock a school bully’s teeth down their throat.

“I was always coming back for you and Jack.”

mythsandmonsters:

Sera wouldn’t be so quick to believe it was because he actually cared for her beyond just simply wanting to possess her, but it was something she could work with.

Reaching up, she touched his cheek, accidentally smearing a little blood on his skin as she pressed their foreheads together again.

“I know,” she whispered quietly. “I know you just wanted me to stay, and I did, and now I’m yours forever. The only reason I didn’t leave Jeri was because I didn’t want to leave Kellen alone with him, and because I knew that it would be the first place you looked for me when you came home.”

The feel of her blood on his skin didn’t even register, his focus fixed on her words. Hearing her say she was his helped settle something in him. It had been the same think Oona had used to pacify him when he got too out of hand with her.

“You will not be here much longer. I will not fucking allow it.”

mythsandmonsters:

She saw the subtle shift in his expression and knew it well enough to ask for confirmation of her suspicions.

“It bothers you, doesn’t it? If you’ve been watching me, you know what he’s been like?”

His lip curled in disgust and, for a long moment, he refused to answer. It had bothered him.

“I was never going to isolate you forever. Just until I was sure you would always fucking choose me over anything else,” he finally admitted, the words more of a growl than anything, fingers itching to hit or break something. “And I damn sure never would have abandoned my own fucking kids, even when they became such useless disappointments.”

mythsandmonsters:

“I’ll be there. I’ll make sure Jeri’s passed out drunk or something so he doesn’t notice I’m gone.”

She couldn’t help wondering for a moment if, since Chance claimed he’d been watching her for a while, it bothered him at all that Jeri had become so controlling over her and kept her isolated, even if he wasn’t violent toward her.

He nodded, jaw clenched slightly at the idea of her literally needing to sneak away from someone so pathetically weak. Sure, he had kept her on a damn tight leash, but he had had different reasoning for it.

LPC: Khaos

Name: Khaos
Age: Ancient as balls
Status: The Void

The first thing in creation, Khaos is the lower atmosphere which surrounds the earth–both the invisible air and the gloom of fog and mist, or so humans tend to believe She’s mostly okay with that as it tends to keep her out of the dumber stories. Khaos is also the mother of such beings as Nyx and Erebus. She seldom intervenes in the lives of anyone or anything, but when she does, it’s mostly because something set the balance out of place and, by then, she’s irritated enough to step in.
