mythsandmonsters:

“Wait, what do you mean she had bruises? From when? Were they fresh?”

Something didn’t add up and Az was getting more impatient by the second, especially as Jericho levelled another accusation at Britt.

“How the hell did she have bruises if you were supposed to be watching her? What the hells been going on, Jeri? How has this happened?”

“When she went to bed she was fine. I woke up and went to check on her, she wasn’t in her fucking bed. She came in not long after, with bruises, saying she went for a fucking walk to clear her head and that she fell. And then the psycho fucking showed up out of the goddamn shadows and we both know that nutjob can hide in them,” he snapped back, refusing to be blame for any of this.

“I was watching her. All I have fucking done since she woke up is try to take care of her.”

mythsandmonsters:

“Yeah, probably.” she murmured, shrugging the whole thing off.

In all honesty, she couldn’t bring herself to feel even the slightest bit bad that Evan had gotten what he deserved, especially since it meant she never had to worry about his creepy ass ever again.

“I hope whatever’s left of him is rotting in hell or wherever it is dead vamps go.”

“Darkest part of the Underworld, probably. I think Ava had to handle his soul since I think anyone Warren kills is her jurisdiction. Him and her creepy ass witch friend.”

He had never met his aunt’s friend, but the story Damien told made him pretty sure he didn’t want to. And he damn sure didn’t want that man anywhere near Saffy either.

mythsandmonsters:

“Yeah, I can. It’s not really convenient to do so though. People don’t take too well to seeing someone flying around with wings sprouting out their back. Especially religious types. That’s a whole mess nobody wants stirring up.”

She reached forward again, her touch a little less cautious and more curious this time as she traced along the edge of one of the wings. “I guess that makes sense.”

mythsandmonsters:

Teddy seemed unfazed by the rather graphic explanation of what happened to Aislynn during a shift.

“It hurts to keep my wings bound up for very long like they’re being crushed against my back and ribs. It can even damage them if they’re kept like that for too long,” he explained calmly, flexing them a little again as though to punctuate the sentence.

“There’s a lot of nerve endings in them, so they’re pretty sensitive.”

“Wait, so can you actually fly?” She wasn’t sure if he was light enough or the strength of those wings. She knew birds were pretty hollow in structure for that reason alone.

“They’re…sort of amazing.”

mythsandmonsters:

“Why don’t you touch them and find out for yourself?” he answered, turning a little so that Aislynn could get to one of them.

“How do you shift into a lynx? You just do, right? It’s the same kind of combination of bones and muscles shifting around and a little magic thrown in on top.”

She scooted forward, slower than earlier, and reached out, fingers barely grazing the feathers before she pulling hand back quickly. They looked so delicate and unreal and she was afraid of hurting him.

“Umm, every single bone in my body breaks and reforms and my organs sort of burst and do the same? It’s sort of like being hit by a truck.”

mythsandmonsters:

“I’m half angel, half death spirit, remember? Both of those have wings.”

The answer sounded obvious enough to him, but then again, he’d grown up around pretty much everyone he knew having wings, at least in his immediate family.

“Sort of similar to how your eyes change colour, just on a bigger scale.”

“How do you keep those hidden?” she repeated, the shock gradually giving way to awe.

“Are…are they soft?”

mythsandmonsters:

Her reaction was understandable, but it only made Teddy smile more.

“Surprise!” he beamed, making a sort of vague ‘ta-da’ motion with his hands, his wings fluttering just a touch with the movement.

“Pretty crazy, huh?”

“Y-you have…how?? What..? How do you keep those hidden?” she hissed, trying to be as silent as possible so as not to alert her dads. The last thing she needed was for the door to open to that sight.

mythsandmonsters:

He waited until he was sure her eyes were closed before he took off his shirt and rolled his shoulders, letting his back relax fully so what he was about to do caused him as little discomfort as possible.

Taking a deep breath, he slowly let his wings unbind, stretching them a little to loosen them up.

“Okay, you can look.”

Her eyes opened slowly and it took her a moment to fully realize what she was saying. When it finally struck her, she was skittering back, eyes wide. This couldn’t be real, could it? He had wings like a giant ass bird.

“Holy shit,” she squeaked out before clapping her hands over her mouth to silence herself.

That was definitely not what she had been expecting.

mythsandmonsters:

A broad grin spread across his face as he shrugged out of his jacket and let it drop onto the bed.

“Okay, close your eyes. I wanna show you something, but I kinda want it to be a surprise. Is that okay with you?”

It took her a moment to nod and do as he asked, the fact that she didn’t actually know him smacking her in the face. Somehow, she had managed to push the thought to the back of her head for a bit.

“Okay..”
