Without much thought she licked at the crook of his neck before nuzzling at him again, content in a way she didn’t think she had ever felt before. But it wasn’t anything she thought anything of other than a pack mentality reaction.

“You don’t smell so anxious anymore,” she whispered, leaning up just enough to meet his gaze.

“I guess I don’t feel it as much,” he answered with a small smirk, realising he did feel a difference at least. He wasn’t so on edge anymore, the gnawing feeling he had earlier given way to one where he just wanted to put his scent all over Cadi and have hers on him.

He shifted a little to sit up just enough to steal another kiss from her as a distraction before he got payback and flipped her over so that he had her pinned playfully, though he was still mindful enough to give her the option of pushing him away if he overstepped the mark.

“Good.” She went to say more but he had flipped her and she let out a bright burst of laughter, the sound unrestrained for the first time since before shr had been forced into the “care” of Marni.

Cadi wiggled her hips a bit, trying to get morr comfortable. Any other time, she would have frozen up or panicked, but she trusted him. It was a startling realization but not so shocking as to keep her from trying to lean up and kiss him again.

With a grin, she rolled to her side and pulled him with her. She rubbed her cheek against his chest before all but curling up on top of him, drapinh her scent over his skin like a blanket. Her lips grazed his neck and collar as her fingers mapped any bit of skin she could reach.

Vaughn let out a slight giggle of surprise as Cadi toppled him over, but he put up no resistance as he tilted his head and let her get at more of his neck, the feel of her lips tickling a little but in a way, he found he quite enjoyed.

His hands traced over the curves and planes of her back lazily, only a small amount of hesitation that marked his relative inexperience with being affectionate, especially physically, but he was learning quickly just by paying attention to any cues Cadi gave him that felt encouraging to him.

“It’s a wolf thing. Your seeking pack,” she replied, smiling sweetly at him. She lacked understanding of mating instincts because of her hormones being messed up.

Without another word, she stripped off his shirt before removing her own and nuzzling at his neck. “Scent sharing calms the wolf part.”

Vaughn wasn’t sure if that was true. It didn’t feel all that much like it was calming him down. If anything, the more Cadi nuzzled him, the more frantic his need to have her scent on him, but maybe she was right and he just didn’t know how to untangle the different signals just yet. Either way, he was more than happy to spend however long just doing this and seeing where it led him, Vaughn eagerly rubbing the side of his face against her hair and seeking out more physical affection.

“You’re not going to sound like a weirdo to me,” she promised, nuzzling at him again. She knew wolf instinct well enough but only becauss it had never been beaten out of her.

As if to seal her words, she kissed him again. A few times. Each one soft and sweet and lingering.

His grip on her tightened as he pulled her closer, just wanting his skin to be touching hers as was physically possible.

“You smell good,” he whispered before he could stop the words coming out, but there was a small relief in them doing so as it helped give a hint at what was making him so worked up and confused int he first place.
