mythsandmonsters:

By the time they reached Cord’s place, Sera was crying hysterically, curled tightly against the pain that was becoming too much for her, so much so, she didn’t even notice Chance had gone for the time being and the only thing she could remotely focus on was the terror of losing her babies all over again.

Cord moved quickly, getting Sera into the back and getting her hooked up to his machines. “Sera, right? Britt and Azrael’s girl?” She had to be, she looked enough like her mother and he had met her briefly before. Of course, she had been in a rough state then too.

“This is going to help, but I need you to stay awake, okay?” he spoke, pulling out a thing of medication and a syringe to try and stop her body from losing the baby.

mythsandmonsters:

“Somethings wrong…” she panted tearfully, trying to breathe through the pain.

Beyond the pain itself, Sera could only make one guess at what was happening and that pain was almost as bad as the physical agony she was experiencing. That fear seemed to confirm itself almost immediately when she looked down and saw blood starting to soak through her jeans.

It was the blood that made him realize what was going on and he made short work out of scooping her up and bringing her to the one place he knew he damn sure was not welcome to be.

Before Cord could even react, Chance was pushing Sera at him. “I don’t give a fuck about not being welcome here. She’s pregnant. You fucking help her or I will set your goddamn bar on fire and burn the place to the fucking ground.”

As soon as Cord took hold of Sera, Chance was gone. He wasn’t about to overstay his welcome and he figured, if nothing else, Cord would call her parents while he took care of things at home.

mythsandmonsters:

“Chance…”

The word was breathless, disoriented, as Sera leant against the wall to steady herself, trying to will away the sudden weakness and sick, dizzy sensation spreading through her. Another moment and it was joined by a feeling like someone had stabbed her in her stomach and twisted the blade, making her whine and collapse to the ground.

He barely turned at first, but when she collapsed, he dropped the poker and moved to her side, trying to assess what could possibly be wrong and coming up blank. He had only seen Jericho touch her wrist, so it was making no sense to her.

“What?”

mythsandmonsters:

Between freeing herself and then having to react to Jeri coming back at her, Seri lost her balance and fell hard against the wall. She didn’t have enough time to react any other way than to focus everything into stopping Jeri in his tracks and throwing him back away from her with every last bit of strength she had, even though it had been years since she’d last used her abilities with that level of force.

“Get away from me!” she screamed, shaking with the effort of keeping him back as she started to weaken from using too much of her energy at once.

Jericho stumbled back, growing more enraged by the moment. How dare she choose that damn psycho over him. It was enough to make him see red and he tried to move forward, but it felt like he had run face first into a wall.

When he couldn’t move forward, Chance took it as a green light and he moved quickly, knocking Jericho out with the iron fire poker across his skull. He was just trying to get things under control for the sake of Sera.

“Call someone to come get him before I gut him, Sera.” The words were growled, his stance rigid, the poker still clenched in his hands, waiting for Jeri to come to so he could bash him again.

mythsandmonsters:

Sera whimpered a little at the twisting of her arm, but she cast a glance at Chance, catching his gaze and understanding that she needed to give him permission to act.

“Chance, help. He’s hurting me,” she growled, using her ability to manipulate blood to give her physical leverage to push Jeri away from her as she twisted free so Chance had a clear run at him.

The shock of Sera using her abilities against him was just enough to make Jericho let go. But he was quick on his feet and lunged at Sera about the same time Chance dove forward and swiped out at him with his claws.

mythsandmonsters:

Sera was still fighting hard against Jeri’s grip, digging her heels in and making herself a dead weight as best she could even though she wasn’t the heaviest of people to start with.

She was getting angry now. She couldn’t stand the way he treated her like she didn’t know her own mind and that any time she tried to exert it, he threatened her with taking away her agency completely again.

Jericho’s grip on her tightened and he pulled again. “I am not leaving her here so you can manipulate and torture her some more, you fucking lunatic,” he snarled, twisting Sera’s arm just slightly.

Chance took a step closer, eyes going black as he looked at the scene. No one had said he couldn’t do as he said he would in regards to Jericho, but he needed Sera to make the call. If she asked for help, then he could do as he pleased in any manner to help her. After all, her father had said he had to take care of Sera.

mythsandmonsters:

“No! Get out!”

Sera pulled away from him hard, a hateful look on her face to hide the fact she really was scared he’d succeed in trying to take her.

“Chance!” she screamed, knowing damn well that stopping Sera from being hurt meant that Chance could attack Jeri without breaking his oath, but only as far as acting in self-defense.

He jerked hard at her wrist, trying to get her to just move her ass. He had sworn up and down that he would never let Chance take her away again and he wasn’t about to leave her here with that monster.

“Really, Sera? Really? You’d rather stay here with that thing in the house he tried to kill our mother in?” he snarled, trying to keep his voice down, but her screaming for the psycho didn’t help.

The sound of stuff breaking stopped and Chance came into view, blood smeared over his cheek from where he had touched his face after punching out the window. “Let go of her.” The words were quiet, enough so that Chance wasn’t entirely sure he had spoken past the white noise in his head.

mythsandmonsters:

Sera was used to Chance breaking things, but the sound of the door breaking from the other side of the house had her frozen to the spot, especially as Jeri came into view.

He could hear Chance breaking more stuff in the kitchen and he knew now would be the easiest shot he had. Without a word, he reached out and grabbed for Sera’s wrist, intent on dragging her out of the house.

“Let’s go, Sera.”
