“I don’t remember giving you much choice there,“ he teased. "Pretty sure Lissa’s about as possessive as me, so it would be hard to match that. As for looks, what, did she show you a picture? Because she’s still pissed at me for deleting his number from her phone. She was with him when she got shot.”

It was clear that Darius’ patience had come to an end, but only because he knew they would be lucky to get the girl into the cage before all hell broke loose again. Getting out of the car, he headed up to the front door, pre-emptively explaining the situation so that Ty could bring Kay in unhindered and get her down to the basement.

His reservations on grew when the girl at the door didn’t look much older than Kayla, but he was out of options and out of time to argue. The look in the girl’s eyes would have normally been enough to make him turn on his heel, but the other had brought him to the land of canon fodder and it would be a damn massacre if he didn’t get his sister contained.

“A ghoul, Darius? Are you fucking kidding me?” Ava growled, eyeing the boy over his shoulder with a deep mistrust. “What the hell am I supposed to do with a goddamn ghoul?” Her tone was just low enough for Ty not to hear, but she knew Darius had way better hearing.
