“Well, if you’re sticking around until later, maybe we can all watch it when she gets back?” Quinn suggested, figuring Manson wouldn’t mind him extending that sort of invitation to family, especially when both she and Angelo had been trying to encourage him to make more friends and get to know people rather than just hiding in his room.

“I think I’d like that,” she replied, glad that he seemed a little less reserved than she had figured. Plus Manson had said he really needed a friend and she was mild mannered enough to not startle, so she figured it would work out well enough.

“Daddy brought home a puppy!!!” Gwen shrieked, bouncing around Jeff’s legs like an over eager rabbit. Tucker was less impressed, a scowl on his lips as he sniffed at the air. It wasn’t a puppy and he didn’t like feeling lied to by anyone.

“Not quite,” Jeff amended softly as he settled the young shifter down on the ground. “A new little brother. I need you to show it’s safe here because he’s scared. I’m counting on you,” he instructed Gwen, the words soft despite the empty look in his eyes.

Gwen didn’t need to be told twice as she dropped to all fours and scurried over to him, immediately letting her eyes change color. “HI! I’m Gwen! I’mma take good cares of you!” she chirped brightly. “An’ that’s Tucker! He’s gonna help but he’s still a puppy too, so he can’t help a lot a lot.”

It didn’t bother her if he was scare, she could wait until he was comfy to shift. Until then, she was scooping him up as best as she could and half carrying him into her blanket fort.

“Tuck! Come on! You gotta help!”

With a sigh far too exhausted to be coming from a toddler, Tucker followed, but not before giving their dads a look that said he clearly wasn’t as thrilled as Gwen.

“At least she’s doing better now?”

Zayde shrugged it off, deciding that it was better not to mention that he’d let Lissa use his cellphone to make a call, presumably to the guy in question, and though he didn’t eavesdrop on the conversation, Lissa had seemed a lot less distressed after when she handed the phone back. The last thing he needed was to piss Devin off, for both their sakes; Lissa’s in terms of her recovery, and Zayde’s in terms of finally getting things back on track with Dev.

“And she’s going to stay that way because we’re not going back to that place.”

There was a slight growl in his voice, but he was trying to swallow it back down. Almost losing his sister had definitely taken a toll on him and he was still trying to get over the emotional strain it had caused. He knew it was bugging Lis that he had become even more protective over her, but Devin honestly didn’t care at that point because she was safe.

He had gone through Lyri to make sure no one else was there first. The last thing he needed was to run into his asshole father or any of his old victims. It would sort of put a damper on things overall. Not that Chance was looking forward to what he was about to do in the first place.

It was all he could think of, really. His son’s words playing through his head over and over. Jack was right, he couldn’t depend on Sera for everything and Cam was the only person he could think of that could do what he needed.

Still, he hesitated, lingering in the shadows, masked from actual sight. He doubted the elder didn’t know he was there. After all, if his mostly mortal mother could sense him than Eros definitely could as well.

“I need your help.”

“I’d like to avoid either of those scenarios.” Knowing he couldn’t die didn’t make it better when someone tried to kill you. “Ya didn’t lose him, though, so at least there’s some silver linin’ in there,” he offered. Comfort wasn’t his area of expertise and they both knew that, but he tried to be a decent friend, at least. He scrunched his nose. “I know they ain’t my kids and like, congrats to them on that front, but it still feels too close to that area ta even think about crossin’ that line. ‘sides, Lin doesn’t hate me an’ I’d like ta keep it that way if I can.”

“Dunno, Ava hitting you with a cast iron skillet might be funny.” She was only really half teasing. Honestly, she wouldn’t be surprised if that did end up happening at some point or another. “No, but he’s still got emotional issues. He’s Cam’s so…my grief left an emotional imprint on who he is and that’s not something I can take away.” Which still broke her heard. “I’d like to say that this is a new low, but for you, sadly, this might just be a new middle. Can’t really see him hating you too much quite yet.”

babyitsmagic:

“That’s a lazy answer,” he shot back. He wasn’t good at being cautious. Never had been and had stopped giving a fuck about it completely years ago. But he knew people could still have fun without being reckless.

“Well, I’m human and, by nature, humans are lazy.” Her lips twitched, a slight smirk forming. It was a little weird to be having a conversation like this with someone she usually just got drunk with and fucked.

louisianalostones:

“Of course you’re cute. You’re adorable. Like bunnies, but… not in a food way,” she said, lips twitching into a slight smile. “Are you telling me you wouldn’t sleep with Lin’s sisters if you got the chance? Because Lin says otherwise.”

“I’m actually offended that you’re calling me adorable.” She didn’t want Callie to be comparing her to bunnies. “Willing to sleep with someone and actively trying to get with them are two different things. Erika and Jeannie are hot, yeah, but I’m not actually hitting on them.”
