“It is, kinda,” he mumbled, chewing his lip and staring at the floor, cursing himself for making things so damn difficult for the both of them all the time, even though he didn’t mean to.
“I wish I wasn’t like this, even just a little bit, because I know you’re trying really hard to be patient with me, and that’s more than I deserve or should be asking of you. I know that. I hate that I can’t be more normal for you.”
She was quiet for a moment before slipping off the couch to sit on the floor at his feet. It was the easiest way she knew of to get his focus on her without actually touching him and making things worse.
“It’s not your fault. Besides, I like you and not some idea of what you could be. I wouldn’t have wanted to bring you here, around my family, if I didn’t like you. I just want to be something good in your life because you do deserve that.”
