“People cheat death all the time. Are you forgetting that I should have died hundreds of years ago? Death is not simple. It never has been.” It should have been, but Alexi had seen too many people fuck with it over the years. He knew better. “I wasn’t binding her to you, but fine.” He dropped the knife. “I won’t use your blood.” He knew other immortals. He’d have to waste time tracking one down, but he could make it work.
“You do realize that if the Fates wanted you dead, nothing you could possibly do would stop them from severing your thread, right?” She knew a thing or two about the issue and knew that Alexi wasn’t exactly marked to die any time soon. “Not in the literal sense, no.” But metaphysics and literally had little in common. “The girl is marked to die and if you push the issue, I will rip out your heart.”
