“Public schools are shit. I dropped out because they’re shit. But they’re still how people learn how to at least pretend to function. I guess it helps that you had other kids, but it’s a miracle you’re not one of those weird people who made up a language with the only person you spent time around as a child or whatever.” He shook his head, which was a mistake. He still didn’t think he was drunk enough but he sure as hell wasn’t sober. “But have you really never thought about what you’d be doing in an ideal world or whatever?”
“I also grew up in the city and it’s not hard to take kids to the park to meet other kids,” she pointed out, relaxing a little. Years of practice had perfected the story of her schooling, so people seldom ventured deeper than that. “Not really. Tried college, but couldn’t really land on anything that I wanted to do long term. Besides, no use fantasizing about an ideal world. Won’t get anyone anywhere to live in fantasy land.”
