“I get that from my dad.” he grinned, giggling slightly because that was something his mom said to his dad pretty often.

“It’s one of my moms only weaknesses.”

“Did you just giggle?” she asked, grinning broadly at him. Of all the sounds he could have made, she hadn’t been expecting that.

“Pretty sure your mom has other weaknesses when it comes to your dad.”

Delaine blinked at the response, although the surprise was softened by the second message, a small chuckle escaping his lips.

[text:###] No, it’s fine. Really. Actually, I suppose I am sort of offering, if you’re interested? Although it might be nice to know who it is I’m making such an offer to? [/text]

He hadn’t quite expected that response, or any really, so he was a little startled when the phone went off again.

[text:???] Lewis. Not that a name is all that helpful, I suppose.

mythsandmonsters:

[text:###] That bad, huh? Can I give you an honest opinion? I think you need a better quality of fuckbuddy. Someone with decent taste or common sense to not buy cheap furniture if they like a good hard fucking. [/text]

For a moment, he caught himself thinking that he could definitely show them a good time in that regard, but the fact he was still talking to an anonymous stranger dragged him back from the notion.

[text:???] Are you offering?

The moment he sent it, he knew it was a touch too forward. Maybe he didn’t realize how far over the line it was, but he did recognize that there ever was a line.

[text???] That might have been a bit forward on my part..

mythsandmonsters:

[text:###] Wow, that really does sound like you had the worst night. Two should be more than enough. I mean, any more than that and it’s basically an orgy, right? XD [/text]

Whoever it was, Delaine found himself actually sympathising. Disappointing sex was annoying. A disappointing threesome was just a straight-up tragedy.

[text: ???] Right. Then I get the follow up texts from the dude’s girlfriend bitching about the bed breaking. It was almost enough to make me swear off of sex for a week.

It was definitely more information than he ought to be sharing with a wrong number text, but they seemed to just sort of get it. It was a small comfort.

Delaine smirked at the new message. He didn’t know who in the world he was talking to, but he was intrigued at least enough to continue the conversation to see if it led anywhere.

[text – Unknown Number]: Couldn’t agree more. Sounds like whoever you meant to text disappointed you a little?

Any other time, Lewis would have just stopped responding, but he was frustrated and the other night had not helped any.

[text:???] More than a little. You would think two different people to play with would have ended at least a little satisfying.

“And how is that my problem? I have duties to handle.” Most days he wouldn’t have pushed back against her request, but she had gone about asking him in the worst possible way and everything in him wanted to fight her on it. “…worth it, most likely. You’re quite rude.”

“I doubt you could get past me, honey.” Maybe challenging him wasn’t the best idea, but it was either that or shoot him and she had a feeling her grandfather wouldn’t be too enthused about the latter. “Tell that to the wraiths.”

babyitsmagic:

“You startled me. That has traditionally not ended well for me. I’ve learned to be preemptive.” He twisted the knife in his hand, the weapon offering a similar comfort to him as the gun did to her. “Perhaps, but it would still inconvenience you this time. Did no one teach you manners?”

“I was paid to make sure he suffered with cameras rolling for proof.” She was liking him less and less. “Not as much as it would inconvenience you down the line.” Elise gave a snort, not at all impressed. “Clearly you’ve not spent time around the keres.” She had her father’s sense of manners; nonexistent.

babyitsmagic:

Despite her earlier statement, he had to remind himself that getting shot hurt and it wasn’t a hassle he wanted to deal with. He stepped back, no longer trapping her against the wall. “Generally people are more cooperative with those who have not threatened them. I could pull his soul now.”

“You went for the knife before I went for the gun,” she countered, clicking the safety back on but not holstering it. She felt better with the steel in her hands. “And I could pull rank.”

“So I am aware,” he answered flatly, lowering the knife but not moving away. “But you could still be polite instead of ordering and threatening. Not all reapers are the same, you know. Some of us prefer an approach with more…” He hummed for a moment. “…karma.”

She pressed the gun into his stomach a little harder. “You’re still standing too close.” Truth be told, she wasn’t fond of his short. Never had been, even as a child. “You must have me confused with others of my family. I see no point in being polite to something that is already dead.”
