Just had some serious family drama shit hit the fan. I also work the next 4 days in a row (37 hours, whoo), so activity might be sketchy af and, tbh, I’m really in the mood to write straight up violence rn, so take that as a heads up?
Day: January 29, 2018
“Yeah.”
Charlie caught on to the way Adi’s shoulders dropped as she got a little more comfortable talking to him. He still wasn’t going to cross any lines and ask why she seemed like she was constantly walking on eggshells, but he’d seen it enough throughout his life to make an educated guess at probable reasons.
“Everyone definitely deserves to feel safe and relaxed, no matter what circumstances they are in.”
“Not much really happens in this area. My dad’s extended family keeps the area pretty safe,” she offered, hoping it would make him feel a little better about choosing there to settle. It would be sort of nice to have someone else to hang out with that she didn’t have to hide what she was from.
“That doesn’t sound like much fun,” Dominic noted with a faint frown, and from what he could tell, it was considerably different from how familiars changed, since theirs was more illusory than a complete physical reconfiguration of body parts.
“Eh, you get used to the pain. It was harder when I was a pup still. Ma hated when I would shift outside of the full moon. She tries to ignore what she is most of the time.” His mother also resented that his father was a witch and she hadn’t known when they had hooked up. It wasn’t until his own abilities began to manifest did she know.

“He can go home, but he’s sedated for the pain and Eli’s recommended he be supervised 24/7 so he doesn’t hurt himself and until he starts eating again. Eli said if Ollie had been human, he’d have been bound by state law to get the cops involved and have Ollie placed under mandatory psychiatric detainment for at least the minimum required period, but with him being a shifter, that could kill him faster, so he thinks home care would be better for him.”
They were all in for a rough ride, not just in terms of stopping Ollie fading away and dying anyway, but getting Jeff to stop fighting his nature and find a way to manage it instead before he could be trusted to go anywhere near anyone even remotely mortal.
“Oh that’s going to go over great with my brother and his equally annoying husband,” he growled, not really wanting to deal with either one of them. He had never held any fondness for his half brother, but he did still feel like he supposed to do something to make up for nearly killing their eldest son. Of course, most of that came from Sera telling him as much.
“Jeff is at home, chained in the basement with a snapped neck,” were his parting words as he went to retrieve his nephew to take him back home. Sedated just meant he didn’t have to deal with questions.
“The kid’s pretty banged up, but Eli thinks he’ll physically be okay in terms of healing.” Sera told him, repeating only what Eli had briefly mentioned, since a more detailed assessment came under patient privilege and was reserved for Sean and Damien.
“There might be another issue in the long term though. Apparently, Ollie’s mating instinct has been triggered, so keeping him away from Jeff could still kill him. Eli’s looking into ways to prevent that though.”
“Mini me needs to get his shit together before he can see the coyote again,” he sighed, rubbing a hand over his face. This was going to be a mess, it already was, but it was going to get worse before it got better.
“Is he good to be taken home though?”
Sera nodded, a solemn and worried look on her face at just how bad a shape Ollie was in. She’d call Sean and Damien once Eli was done checking him over and treating whatever injuries he had, knowing that having them panicking and making too much of a fuss wouldn’t do Ollie any good right now, so giving him a little peace and quiet in a safe place where he was more likely to be willing to talk to Eli about anything he didn’t want his dads to know was priority.
Eli was done with the necessary paperwork and arrangements to keep Ollie away from the general population of the hospital, for the time being, so he came in a few moments later once he knew Ollie had arrived.
Once he left the room, Chance went back to retrieve Jeff. He had chains set up already, so it wasn’t difficult to make sure he couldn’t slip away when he finally did come to. Most of the family didn’t like the idea, but Layla had consented in a rather rude way that, for the most part, shut anyone up.
He didn’t return to the hospital until he heard from Sera. “What’s the situation?”
