“Santa Claus wishes he had my looks,” he replied, smirking at him. “But yeah, I’m not shittin’ ya. I knocked her up. My bad.” He was still surprised she wanted to keep it, if he was being honest with himself.

Cian sighed heavily and took a step back. Tru not returning his calls made a lot more sense now. “Well, it was nice knowin’ ya both, I guess,” he muttered, feeling suddenly alone again. They were the only two people he actually felt at ease around, even without the drugs.

Cayden wasn’t wrong in his assessment. It certainly helped let Nerissa relax when she had a giant green cat to play with, like a living plushie that gave pleasant sensory feedback that didn’t overwhelm her like almost everything else in the world did so far.

“He’s so fluffy!” she grinned, getting bold enough to almost let Blake lie down in her lap.

Blake curled around Cayden’s side, his head more on Nissy’s knee than anything else though. If they kept up the petting, he was going to fall asleep. It was part of what had gotten him with Cay in the first place.

“He’s the best cuddle buddy in the world.”

The thought of there ever being a time where she’d be taken away from him brought out the worst in his possessiveness. It was a part of him that overrode what little sense of normal behaviour he had and it made him dangerously impulsive and spiteful.

He tried to push the thought to the back of his mind for now though, focusing on the fact that she was there right now and she needed him.

Without thinking, she slid one hand under his shirt and let her fingers play over the skin of his lower back. She needed the skin contact, wanted to wrap his scent around herself until she was drowning in it. If his mom hadn’t been home, she might have been a little more handsy, but it would be only too awkward for that to punctuate meeting either one of his parents.

“I love you.”

[text: Lewis] Name a time and a place 😀 [/text]

Delaine would have invited Lewis straight over to his place if they had already met in person before, but since he hadn’t, he figured it was better for both of them to meet somewhere neutral and at least semi-public so that he could get a read on what he was dealing with before he let him into his bed.

[text: Delaine] Do you know that little cafe on St Charles by Lafayette?

It was the closest place he could think of that had decent enough food. Plus, it was public enough that if he needed to bolt, he could slip away through the crowds easily enough.

Azrael couldn’t recall the last time he’d seen Chance even look like he was trying to take anyone else’s feelings into consideration, so it was all the more surprising to see him actually look nervous about the whole proposal thing.

“I think if it’s something you’ve put thought and effort into, she’ll like it.” the angel encouraged, his tone a little warmer than the basic forced civility that hung between them.

He came as close as he was able to actually caring about Sera and it was showing more. He was smart enough to recognize that he needed her and it was definitely more than she would ever need him.

“I got it engraved,” he confessed, refusing to make eye contact. The change in Az’s tone did not go unnoticed and Chance wasn’t sure if that was better or worse.

The girl was already shivering by they time they got to the bar, just barely holding herself together enough to nod and confirm she was lucid and understood, as hazy as everything else around her was.

She felt like she was about to vomit, but nothing came out when she gave a couple of dry retches, a taste like bile settling in the back of her throat.

Cord scooped her up gently and started to head towards the back. “Call all the shifters you can think of on Ava’s end. It’ll help her if she’s got other shifters curled up with her,” she instructed, leaving Nia to her task.

mythsandmonsters:

Frey was already leaning her weight against her sister to stop her legs giving out from under her as they made their way back toward the bar. Her head was swimming with incoming delirium and realising that there was a strong possibility that if she survived turning, she’d have to spend some time with the pack Cord knew so that she could learn to control herself, which wouldn’t have been an issue if it weren’t for the fact her estranged brother lived there.

Logically, she knew the fever was okay, but that didn’t stop Nia fom wanting to put her in an ice bath. Of course, trying to break the fever induced by a were’s bite would send her body into shock and probably kill her.

“Uh, we have an issue here.”

Cord glanced up from behind the bar and was pulling herself up and over it in the span of seconds. “What the hell happened?!”

“Dylan bit her. He was under his truck, she thought he was a hurt animal and got to close, startled him she said. She didn’t know it was Dylan.”

“Fuck. Frey, can you hear me?”

mythsandmonsters:

Everything started to feel completely surreal and Frey wasn’t sure if it was just shock or if the bite was already having an effect, but all she wanted to do was lie down and not feel like the world was tilting anymore.

The fever was already taking hold, heating her skin up fast, the witch part of her dna accelerating the effects as her body tried hard to burn the invading infection out of her before it compromised her entire immune response and took over.

Nia blinked slowly, feeling her sister’s skin heat rapidly. It was the fastest she had ever heard of the effects kicking in and that was worrying in its own.

Hiding the shock as best as she could, she gently nudged Frey towards the bar. “Come on, let’s get you to mom before you collapse on me and I have to carry you.”

mythsandmonsters:

Frey hadn’t realised she was holding her breath until the lightheadedness progressed sharply so that little fuzzy spots started to creep into her field of vision and she swayed a little like she was about to faint.

“Are you sure?” she whimpered, starting to get upset and panicky.

Niamh kept a hold of her sister, trying to steady her as best as she could. A part of her wanted so badly to lie, to reassure her that it was all just a bad dream or that it had been a normal coyote, but she knew it wouldn’t do her any good.

“Unfortunately, yeah..”
