Azrael conceded that little point to Chance since he was hardly known for seeking approval for anything he did and he’d be breaking his agreement with the angel in several ways if he tried to manipulate Sera into doing something like this.
“Fine. As I said, if, when you ask Sera, she says yes and is making the decision entirely of her own free will, I won’t go against what she wants, although you may want to run this idea past your mother too or she’ll be upset. Agreed?”
“Agreed.” The word almost stuck in his throat, enough so to make it more growled than spoken. He knew Brittia wasn’t going to be thrilled about either, she had made it pretty clear that she didn’t even like the idea of him being allowed near anyone, Sera especially. But Chance tried to ignore those facts as best as he could.
He was silent for a moment, fingers curling over the box until he felt the material start to crumple. “I don’t even know if she’ls going to like the damn ring…” He tried to sound nonchalant, but there was a nervous edge to it, one he couldn’t cover no matter how hard he tried.
