Hades: Nope.
Addy: She’s not immortal we can’t just–
Hades: I. Do. Not. Want. Her. Here.
Addy: But she’s morta–
Hades: If you want her to die so badly, you can keep her soul and you can deal with her.
Lacey: ……
Chloe: I mean, we don’t…

Addy: Shut up. Fine. I guess we’ll leave Valencia alone for now.

“I’m sure I don’t need to tell you that what you’re asking for is complicated, and that’s putting it lightly.”

Giving someone emotions, in general, was easy, but Chance was asking for didn’t fall neatly into that category. It wasn’t as simple as just tweaking a few hormones and neurotransmitters this time around. What he was asking was to feel and understand a specific experience of someone with already atypical brain chemistry, without lumping the trauma on top of that.

“And I can’t guarantee that there won’t be some sort of lasting side effect from it. Jack’s schizophrenia means he experiences emotions and memories far differently, not just from you, but from most other people too. For you to have any idea what that’s like, I’m going to have to more or less change your brain chemistry to match his, and that’s the difficult part because there are a lot of unknowns.”

He was quiet as Cam spoke, not that he spoke much to begin with when he could help it. Complicated. He wasn’t an idiot, he knew it wasn’t going to be as simple just making him feel any base line emotional response. Truthfully, he wasn’t sure if it could be done without both him and Jack in the same room.

I don’t care, just do it, were the first words on the tip of Chance’s tongue, but the idea of side effects had him stopping. “What sort of side effects?” The last thing he wanted was to be stuck feeling guilt over people that didn’t matter for the rest of his goddamn life.

Kellen would have been insulted if he didn’t see Chance’s point. He was hardly the first person anyone would call for help, let alone Azrael, so maybe Chance was right, as much as Kellen would hate to admit it.

“Alright,” he conceded sullenly, backing off. “Should I call anyone else, or…?”

The question irritated him a little, but he didn’t let on to it. Honestly, Chance thought the answer was so painfully obvious that Kelle should have just called Dae in the first place instead of running off on his own.

“His brother or sister. Surely you have at least Sapphira’s number given her entanglement with Mort.”

“I don’t think she’d give me the chance to say anything if I met her. She’d be busy lecturing you on your shitty choices.”

“If she started that shit, I fully expect you to really play along and ask if she plans on keeping that attitude when the baby’s born. Just to really fuck with her.” Gran had started that sort of shit with Brynn once, the first time she had brought Lia home, and it had not gone over well. It was still hilarious to her though.

“Makes sense, I guess. Not really her fault, though. People make their own decisions, good or bad.” He’d had good, responsible parents, and he’s still made a stupid, reckless decision. Not a thought he cared for and he reached for the bottle again, taking another swig.

Colette snorted at that. “Good luck ever trying to tell her that.” Not that she had any intentions of introducing Wilder to her grandmother. She doubted it would go over well.

Melinoe has actually met her grandson once. Ikelos took Xander to meet her when he was a toddler. He made sure it was one of her lucid days first and Mel absolutely adored the boy.

Katina, however, was furious when she found out that her father had done that because of just how quickly her mother can go from stable to absolutely dangerous. After all, Ike kept Katina from her mother nearly her entire life (and for pretty good reason).
