Ollie was getting upset. He couldn’t rationally argue the point away, but he hardly wanted to admit that sometimes he felt like he wanted to die anyway, and that had been something that affected him even before he got involved with Jeff.
“You’re right, okay? What do you want me to say?” he growled tearfully, fighting hard to not break down completely. “I fucked up. I know. I can’t give you a good reason why, but that’s just the way it is. I don’t want to leave him, and if that means I might die because of it, that’s on me. Nobody else.”
“And that right there is why I’m telling Damien and Sean. I don’t want to lose you from my life.” He was scaring her, especially when she could smell the mix of emotions coming off of him. She knew the sharp scent of his level of depression because she had been there before.
“You are one of my absolute best friends, Ollie. If you die and I didn’t do anything to try to prevent it, I’ll have to live with that for the rest of my life. You might say it’s on you, but the rest of us are the ones that have to pick up the fucking pieces.”
