She’d never seen her grandfather pissed off, but then again, she’d never done anything to give him cause to be. She knew he didn’t like the idea of leaving anyone behind if they needed help though since that was how most of the pack came to be anyway.

“What happened to her? Can’t imagine anything good if her family knew what she was.”

“Yeah. Ari has the best pack gossip. Future reference.”

He paused, trying to remember where exactly Ari had said the girl had ended up. He knew it was somewhere safe, definitely safer than the pack would have been for her. But he couldn’t remember the exact location.

“Somewhere in Nevada, I think? I don’t have all the details.”

The hybrid gave a short nod in a agreement, a broad smile remaining etched upon his lips.

”I think if I keep her waiting any longer, I shall get the scolding of a lifetime,” he joked merthfully. “Besides, it’s time this grandpa lavished his grandkids in some long awaited affection.”

She turned and moved towards a barely noticeable path, trusting that he would follow. “They did warn you about the traps set in the area to keep nosy people from getting too close, right?” They were all scent marked, but she wanted to be sure he made it there without injury.

“Good thing you’re a giant since they’re pretty grown,” she teased, unable to help herself.

“That might work. My brother is a bit of a soft-touch with the right encouragement. Me, not so much, so don’t think you can pull that shit on me and expect it to work.” his laugh lighting up his bright blue eyes.

Zia lofted a brow before letting his eyes go as he began to pout. Having actual dog eyes always seemed to work in his favor. “Are you sure?”
