“Probably. But Chase hasn’t killed him yet so that’s impressive.” Her cousin had never been one for restraint. No one in their family seemed to possess the ability. She nodded, knowing she could ask Kai to dig around if she couldn’t pick up anything on her own. “I’ll see what I can find out.”

“I know she made it there, the person that owns it called ahead. I just don’t want the family following her. Running is a death sentence.” It was a small miracle they hadn’t actually killed his sister for being a witch in the first place, but that was hardly the point.

“Sounds about right. I don’t think anyone can get away with upsetting her. She’s like a giant puppy, and that’s saying something considering I’m a cat.”

“That’s an understatement. Now go take your meds and shit. I’ve got an appointment in about twenty minutes and I don’t have the same tricks as the rest of the folks in this place either.”

mythsandmonsters:

“I suppose I’ll see you around then? At least if I need a top up anyways.” he shrugged, picking up the stuff Cian had brought him and pocketing it, planning to take it only after he’d gotten someone to supervise.

“Probable. Talyse is my sister and last time I tried to dip out she sent a demon to track me down and drag me back while threatening me for making her cry.” He was essentially stuck in domestic hell.

mythsandmonsters:

“Yeah, I should probably get to that so I don’t end up killing my buzz before it even gets started.” he agreed, already starting to feel the backslide in his mood enough that if he didn’t stop feeling soon, he’d just end up giving himself a bad trip.

“Go on then, I’m a provider, not a sitter,” he shooed, gentle as he could manage. He knew it wouldn’t be hard for Gabriel to get himself a babysitter around here. Too many of the “family” were the sitter types.

mythsandmonsters:

“They could probably teach people a thing or two about that.”

He wasn’t deliberately trying to get into why he was wanting to get fucked up in the first place, but he couldn’t help the resentment seeping out here and there.

“Avoidance is easier, as I’m quickly finding out. I just make a mess of everything else.”

“Therapy does wonders when you get it young enough.”

He knew Luna had gotten there when she was seventeen and had needed a lot of help and he knew Tal had needed it just as badly. He was a little beyond help personally, but he liked himself well enough.

“Find a watcher, take the pills, forget your shit for a few hours.”

mythsandmonsters:

“At least I know she means well, even if she’s not great at it. That’s more than I can say about some people. I wouldn’t even be here if I could.”

“Yeah, her and Tal are shockingly well adjusted for the shit they’ve been through. I’m more into avoidance personally.”

mythsandmonsters:

He liked having her this close, liked knowing that she felt safe enough to trust him above anyone else regardless of the rumours that went around about him. It reinforced the notion in his mind that she was his and they belonged together.

He could quite easily fall asleep with her in his arms like this if she wanted to. For the moment, he’d even forgotten that she had a curfew and wouldn’t be able to stay all night, but none of that mattered right now.

She nuzzled at him gently, wanting to keep his scent on her skin. She knew she would have to douse herself in perfume before getting home, but she could, at the very least, have the moment. It made it harder to go home though.

“Thanks for rescuing me,” she mumbled, pulling back just enough to look at him.

mythsandmonsters:

“She’s already attempted to play therapist. That’s why you got a phone call in the first place.” he pointed out, referring to Luna’s try at giving him a bit of a pep talk about avoiding crazy girls and taking some time for himself.

“That’s a scary thought. That sounds like it’d go over about as well as giving my sisters keys to a car.” Luna was too blunt in his opinion to be much help when someone was in a more delicate state emotionally.

mythsandmonsters:

“With the number of cousins I have here, I’m pretty sure I’d have at least three or four volunteering to babysit my ass even if I didn’t need one, and it’s not like I can wander off that far anyway without any kind of vehicle. I don’t have that particular talent.”

“Maybe so, but you can still wander into traffic and that won’t do anyone any good in the long run,” he pointed out. He doubted the pills would make him wander, but there was always a chance. “My sister’s the babysittin’ type and I know she’s around somewhere. Lu said she was trying to eat everything in the fridge.”
