It was clear the boy was jaded and had not seen a positive outlook on life in a very long time, which was understandable, all things considered, with having lost his home and his entire family, and only having physical and emotional scars to show for it.
“Well, honestly, my aunts and uncle said it was much easier and cleaner than another plague.” It was a bad a joke, but he didn’t seem to notice just how awful, even after he said it.
