Tass leaned into that touch, one hand moving to tentatively touch Cam’s cheek. He let Cam’s scent wash over him, all the memories of being wrapped around him flooding him in waves. So many words hung on the tip of his tongue, but he kept them locked behind his lips, too afraid to spoil the moment.

It was hard for Cam to hold back. He wanted to take things slow, afraid to fully trust right away, but that subconscious need kept pulling him, craving the touch he’d missed in so long.

It was clear he was hesitating, but he let himself steal just the faintest kiss, his lips barely brushing Tass’s.

Tassos held his breath when he felt that faint brush of lips, a deep seated longing rolling over him. He wasn’t sure if it was his emotion or Cam’s, but it didn’t matter.

He didn’t press beyond that, his thumb stroking over Cam’s cheek as hd tried to control himself. He knew he had to let them make the calls right now even if it took more time than Tass wanted it to.

Cayden curled around her, but his grip was loose enough for her to break free of if she wanted. He liked sleeping curled up with someone and he could only hope it would help her settle easier as well.

Nerissa had no idea how tiring it could be to exist in the waking world, but it was understandable that it would take time for her to develop a tolerance to it with her having only lived in dreams before.

Still, she was suddenly apprehensive about falling asleep, afraid that if she did, she’d somehow get stuck again.

“It’s okay. I’ll keep you safe,” Cayden murmured, running his fingers through her hair gently. It was his job to protect her and no one would convince him otherwise. Besides, touch made it easier to help if she got trapped in unpleasant dreams.

“Get the fuck out of my fucking house!” He screamed, putting his fist through the wall. He couldn’t lay a hand on his son and the boy was damn sure pressing his luck right now.

There was a slight habitual flinch when Chance’s fist connected with the drywall. Chance had done that plenty of times when Jack was a kid, as a threat that always preceded the one coming to him.

Jack wasn’t even quite sure what he was doing there if he was honest. Maybe it was a test. To see if Chance really couldn’t do anything to him anymore, or maybe to see if Jack had gotten brave enough yet to do all the things he’d been dreaming about doing when he would finally get to make him pay.

He turned his back on the boy, breathing hard, talons digging into the palms of his hands when he clenched his fists. He was tempted to call Sera or Ava. Tell them to come get this kid out of his fucking sight. But he knew he would just break the damn phone before he dialed out.

Had he been more under control, Chance would have taunted him. Made some comment about him returning home, where he belonged, but all he wanted to do right now was break someone.

“Leave.”

Chance was pacing like a caged thing when the door opened. He had told Sera to leave for the day and take Teddy with her, not in the mood to be around anyone. His lip curled into a cruel sneer when he turned to see Jack there.

“Leave. Now.”

Jack said nothing, nor did he move at all. Between the fear that had been plaguing him for so long and the anger and resentment that had galvanised from it, a storm had been brewing and he wanted to face his biggest demon once and for all.

“Get the fuck out of my fucking house!” He screamed, putting his fist through the wall. He couldn’t lay a hand on his son and the boy was damn sure pressing his luck right now.

“This isn’t what it looks like and I assure you it would be a monumental mistake on your part if you were to continue that train of thought.”

It wasn’t so much a threat as it was an absolute honest truth, the last thing the fae wanted was to have the mess that came with unwanted and uninvited infatuation to clean up, since even the quickest fix resulted in a dead body, and in an ideal world, nobody wanted that.

“And what exactly is it then?” She was curious, that much was obvious. “And you don’t strike me as a telepath.”

There was an urge to touch him, sure, but it wasn’t some overwhelming thing to her. Whatever he was, she wasn’t enthralled the way she figured other species might be. She was definitely intrigued.

“What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” she asked, frowning at Eulalia. She wasn’t angry, though she knew she should have been. At most, she was mildly confused.

Eul hummed, hooking a finger around the collar and tugging lightly. “Staking claim. Was I being too subtle? I didn’t think I was being subtle,” she answered, tempted to kiss the girl but never sure if she would get hit or not. She was too attached to Casey to know the outcomes.

“And what exactly are you trying to accomplish with this?” he asked. “Because, you know if you wanted to have a fun time, you could have just asked.” The words were accompanied by a smirk, but despite his lighthearted response, he was on edge.

The petite redhead smirked, but it wasn’t a kindness. “Good luck getting it off and it ensures you can’t set foot on my damn property. Think of it as an insurance policy since your last little spy didn’t pan out.” She knew she was playing with fire, but she was done with the games. “I’m done with your little games, Yin. I’m in exile and I would very much like to keep it that way.”
