“That’s obvious.” she murmured, sliding onto a stool at the bar right in front of him.

“Especially with the drinking alone part. Look, you can tell me to fuck off if you want, but if there’s even a little part of you that needs company right now, I wouldn’t say no.”

He didn’t really want to deal with her right now, or anyone, really, but everyone knew he flat out hated to be alone. It was a conflicting mix and he was silent as he tossed back another shot. 

“Ya wouldn’ lis’en e’en if I did,” he grumbled.

“S’okay.” Teddy murmured, crawling onto the bed and curling up next to her, getting comfortable so she could come snuggle up to him and he could nuzzle her.

“I just figured we’d had enough bad shit to deal with for one day without having to worry about that stuff.”

Aislynn immediately curled against him, her face buried in the crook of his neck. A little part of her wondered how hard it would be to sneak out with one or two of his shirts to sleep with. 

“Yeah…” He was right, she knew that, but it didn’t really stop her mind from running through scenarios she really didn’t want to imagine.

Cam wanted nothing more than to curl up with Tass and fall asleep just knowing he was there instead of an empty space and an ache he couldn’t bear. The exhaustion was too much and he needed the physical contact to reconnect and repair the hole his absence had left in him, but Cam couldn’t find the words to express it out loud.

He nuzzled at Cam a little, not knowing what to do. Had this been years ago, before everything went to hell, it would have been so much easier. He would have known exactly what to do. But neither one of them were the same and it killed him to realize that.
