Hearing that noise meant more to Jack than most probably understood the extent of. It meant Chance was suffering and that was what Jack wanted, as much as Chance might try to hide it, and without his wings, Chance would take far longer to heal his wounds and every moment of it would hurt in a way Jack was sure his father had never felt before, except maybe while he was chained, so even if he never actually went back to the Underworld, this was just as good in terms of making Chance feel what it was like to be weak and vulnerable.
“Who’s weak now, Chance?” he taunted, crouching down and grabbing Chance’s jaw to force him to look him in the eye. Jack wanted his father to see just how far he’d come and that he was the last person Chance should ever want to fuck with from now on.
“You stay away from me. You stay away from my family, or next time I’ll cut off more than your fucking wings,” he warned coldly. “And by the way, we might share dna, but I’m not your son. You’re nothing to me. I don’t even have your name anymore.”
He tried to swat him off, but everything spun the moment he tried to move. He had been staying away from Jack and the only contact he had had with Manson had involved leaving Seraphine with her on rare occasion when she had been pregnant with Teddy.
Avalon had been over, sure, but only to check in on Sera and Teddy, he knew that. He didn’t really care much either. Ava had signed the house over to Sera and him. Other than that, he had only really seen a handful of the family. He had been following the rules damn well and everyone knew it.
