Devin barely heard the words, almost convinced it was all part of some dream he was having due to the blood loss. It wouldn’t have been the first time, honestly, and it made waking up the next day such a task. He didn’t want it to be just a dream again.
His eyes slipped shut entirely, his breathing evening out, but not before he was curling his fingers over Zayde’s wrist like a child clutching its favorite teddy bear.
Zayde didn’t dare move his hand away, realizing just how much he missed even the smallest amount of physical contact with Devin and, holy hell, he needed this. Careful not to disturb the other, Zayde shifted position so that he could lie down and curl up beside Devin’s sleeping form, still not quite bold enough to cuddle up to him, but enough so that he could at least maintain contact and watch the other sleep for a while until he passed back out too.
Devin couldn’t remember the last time he had actually slept well, so waking up without feeling like shit was almost foreign to him. It took longer for his brain to process thats he was wrapped around someone else. Slowly, he went to move until the scent hit him and last night came back in a hazy stream.
“Mornin’…”
